That's £100

Plus £100

Plus £18.

It's a key.

Before anyone tells me blah blah blah about codes and central locking. There's no way it costs £218 !

The guy ( as usual ) was waffling on about how complicated the keys were.

I said "well would you pay that ?"

I got a replacement key for my Ford.  £35 from the key & shoe repair place.
Not a remote one but has the chip so will start the engine.

Good enough for a spare I reckon.

Try an auto locksmith, if you have the code numbers they will be able to do it cheaper.
I lost the spare key for my Fiat Doblo which I sold last month, Fiat wanted over £300 for a replacement remote key, I ended up getting a standard replacement key from a local auto locksmith for £80, the remote he was gonna do for £200..... I found the original key a week after I sold the van

'Red' Fiat keys were at one point around £1,000.
You're paying for the 6 digits worth of R&D needed to create a scrambled code locking system.
Enlist the help of a teenager, check Ebay and / or if the codes can be downloaded any other way.
The keys and fobs for my old Ford Ranger are also very expensive if you go through Ford but re-programming can be done without a computer following a procedure found on a forum - saved me £200 anyway.

Just use your local auto electronics company. I got an original Vivaro key coded etc for less than £70.

Didn't really fight bakc then did you? you put the phone down he isnt bothered if you buy it or not lol.

Its not just vauxhall's its all car/van makes are the same for keys! Fiat are bloomin more expensive

julian....you should be able to purchase the key, then programme the key yourself. to give you an idea, below is a link for programming a toyota key.....obviously you`ll have to google you`r own vehicle make.

 just tape the key with the chip in inside the column shroud and then use just an ordinary key with no chip- a cheap solution
