How much water do you use
« on: December 29, 2013, 06:19:32 pm »
I see a few local people and people on here with a small van (that must have a small tank) just wondered how much water you use on an average 8 hour day, If I have a full days work I use close to 500 litres of water, how do you survive with a small van? Do you trad the rest when you run out?

I used to use the same until I cut my flow rate from 44 down to 28 now use about 300 litres.
Made no difference to the quality of the clean so might reduce it again next year.

That's good for a full day, I use a 500 litre tank in a merc Vito, see loads of people with kangoo size vans and transit connects, would love to use a small van but they won't hold a 500 litre tank

Depends on how busy and what sort of cleans your doing

My guys usually do a full day and use around 400 ltrs solo or 650 when it's a 2 man set up

I drive a Combo van with a 350 litre tank, on average I work about 7 hours a day and rarely use all the 350 litres of water.
I do believe that a lot of window cleaners use far more water than is required for maintenance cleans.

Paul there are alot of factors to consider.
We clean all frames, top edge and vents, all doors including garage doors. We use around 500 per 1 man van per day.
If we where just cleaning glass we could half the amount we use.
I know for a fact we over clean, BUT, we never have any call backs, never lose customers for quality reasons and are expanding rapidly so I am not bothered. Hope this helps with your calculations.

Domestic work on my own 500 ltrs a day with my worker 800 ltrs my other van goes out to hardcore window cleaning contract and can clear 1500 ltrs in one shift. I have 1000 ltr + another 1000 in trailer

DK

A most sensible reply,  like yourself we do all the frames and sills, but not garage doors,  our flow. Rate is 6 or (65) depending on which controller I look at, but also one mans 8 hour day is someone else's 6 hour day.
Even comparing the number of houses done or £££ turnover in a day is not going to be that helpful only ever a ball park figure
