advice on Vac motor please
« on: December 20, 2013, 06:01:58 am »
I've got an Extracta machine fitted with a "Supavac" which has just burnt out. As this vac costs  a fortune to replace does anyone know of an alternative cheaper unit. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Hi Derik,

I replaced both the big motors on my excel with the standard 5.7 ones and haven't noticed any difference in performance, they also seem to last longer!

You need to make a few minor adjustments inside but it's worth doing as so much cheaper !

Regards
Steve

Any 3 stage 5.7 tan motor will do but you will need a matching pair if you have two vacs ,

Plenty on eBay or wcsuk

Speak to Alltec... they deal in the Electro brand 5.7 motors

I have converted several machines from 7.2" to 5.7" vac units. There is very little difference in performance. A short steel bracket has to bridge the gap between the supports and motor mounts, depending on original mounts. As long as the connections are airtight and the units do not move they are fine.
Nice little job for Boxing day.
