Hi lads

Ive this floor to do in Jan.  50sqm.  Going to use heavy duty to clean/strip and then seal.  This is by biggest floor to date since the course.

As this floor is so big I really don't want to be on hands and knees for hours sealing and wiping off.  Is there any other way.  Was going to use Aquaseals sealers choice gold.   However Ive had more experience with topical sealers applied with a mop than empregs using paint pads.  So could a topical be used?

Also how would you describe this floor.  Sandstone?

E Mail me some better photos so I can blow them up and I will try and identify the floor.  Aqua Mix Sealers Choice Goldf is the correct sealer.  I(t is one of the easiest sealers in the World to apply and 50M2 would take one of my guys less than a coupole of hours to seal on Hands and Knees.  There is another method with a slow speed rotary and bonnets but to be honest my theory is the customer is paying you for one of the best impregnating sealers in the World and therefore it is a chargeable option to apply it.  They deserve to have it applied properly getting into all the grout joints, corners and edges and you can't do that with a machine

I've been using enrich and seal on sandstone it really brings out the colour - if you want the best finish on stone welcome to the world of being on your hands and knees. Applying it today - been going down the edges with a brush making sure it does not wick up the oak skirting boards. Blot off with cloths and a final buff with a white pad on rotary. Try not cock it up with enhances though could be expensive. Been round the houses with sealants and enrich and seal is bleeding brilliant. Tried Lithofin MN Stainstop which is ok but you need 2 coats to get the same effect, so that's two lots of being on your hands and knees and makes Lithofin more expensive even though it's cheaper per litre.

Going to do a test tomorrow so will get better pics then.

Heres my paint pad I seal with.  Its about 10inchs wide.  The pad is thin so are the thick pads better?

Still not looking forward to several hours on knees.

Hi Mark,

I would describe this stone as sandstone, I have used a lot of topical and impregnating sealers on this type of stone. Personally I would use a impregnating sealer when working internally as they contain no smelly solvents and the lifespan is normally longer.

No reason why you cannot use mop method to apply, I would suggest doing a small test area 1st, making sure all sealer has soaked in after about 30-45 minutes, before sealing entire area.
