I've had my Hiace for 5 years from 60,000 to 130,000 miles.
It's an 06 reg 280 2.5 d4d.
I do approx 13,500 miles per year and spend approx £60 per week on fuel.
It has never broken down and has only had a few minor issues.
I think it's still on its original clutch.
I paid £4,500 (no vat).
My insurance still value it at £3000!
I'd love a new Ford Transit Custom 330 but that would cost me approx £4000 per year to contract hire and I honestly can't see how I could justify it.
I do have it serviced at Toyota which ain't cheap (average £230 a pop) and is every 10,000 miles!
Hiace's rock in my opinion. Shame they don't look a bit cooler.

1130 payload mate,

2800 gross weight. Probably carry a 500 tank legally. I've ordered my 650 litre but only plan to fill it when really needed.

I've got 400 miles out of £60 so far too. Although a lot of that was unloaded, and motorway miles.

Probably expect to do about 40 miles to £10 with stop start driving and loaded up with water etc.

Fuels not bad at all really. As long as I get the reliability I'm happy. Not a spot of rust on my hiace and it's 6 year old. Plan to get a long time out this van.

I've worked it out now my hiace averages 25 to 28 mpg fully loaded. My 3.0 twin axle iveco with 1000 ltr and towing an extra 1000ltr trailer across country averages 12 mpg

Be a good buy this Jonny .
Quality
My transit is a joy to drive , think about 40 mpg .
Rust is minimal ATM on a 57 plate
Hope to get 6 years out of it .

Can always take it to a paint shop once .

Top advice to anyone , go large with the van once and once only  .

Me , Astra estate - expert - 260 tranny and now T300 transit , but I've not really wasted much money as the sales have been ok .

T300 57 plate 61000 mwb , med roof at £4500 was a good deal

You must have had your foot nailed to the floor!. Even accounting for the bigger engine and trailer, that is a huge difference to the 29mpg average i got from my iveco (2.3, swb high roof, 3.5t) with a 1000l tank.

I think some things wrong with it to be honest how u getting on with the 2.3 iveco, any reliability problems, my 3.0 is OK but not a patch on Toyota

Yeah I will do at some point.

It's still sitting empty on my drive at the minute. I'm working out my caddy untill I get it sign written and my new 650 tank delivered.

It's a difficult time of year to get stuff done.

I'm getting everything ply lined except the floor, I'm protektakoting the floor, and then switching my equipment over. Should be up and running for the 2nd or 3rd week in January I think.
