Hi all,
I'm Looking at a possible side line venture with my brother doing floor cleaning/buffing.
Not done this before so looking for some pointers please.
I've done some google and yell searching looking at some of the competitors and phoned them up to get prices per sq/m or price by the room. Prices are fairly cheap to be honest. Average carpet cleaning seems to be £25 per room. One chap does the first room for £30 and all others at £15 per room.
One thing I noticed was that around 50% of the companies didn't pick up the phone so I can only assume they were out working. I bet they can loose a fair bit of business with this as I wouldn't bother trying to call later, I'd just try a few more places and pick from those instead.
I would try and get something in place where I can take every call so maybe look at call diverting as an option
There are a fair few companies offering carpet cleaning services for residential properties etc but not that many offering to do the bigger commercial stuff such as night clubs, schools etc.
This might be something we look to get into instead, to differentiate ourselves from most other local companies.
The main problem with this though is getting the work, most of these places will already have contracts with other cleaning companies specialising in this sort of work and I don't really know how you could find out pricing for this sector.
Its easy enough phoning up and saying I want my bedrooms cleaning but saying I own a sports hall/nightclub with dance floor is a bit different.
What's the best way of finding out this sort of info?
Obviously when we work out exactly what we want to do we'll start putting things into place a bit more, costing up equipment, getting some fliers.biz cards done and a website set up.
We'll get on some courses and learn all about it, whats involved, getting the correct insurance etc etc.
Any other pointers or things I've not thought about would be much appreciated.
Cheers
