You can get De Ironising (beads!) trolleys which work srtaight of an outside tap?
Ask yourself:
1 Is my tap water Hard (limescale in it) or soft (soap doesn't lather very well?
If you can, get a TDS reading. Soft can be about 040 -050. Hard can be 500. Mine is about 300. If you have soft water then DI may be enough but check out Andrews calculation Here:
http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=17570.0Iff you decide on DI - Ask someone esle!!!
Now if you decide on Reverse Osmosis:-
How much water do you want each day?
I reckon on about 1 - 1.5 ltrs per average sized window. Bear in mind on first cleans you will want plenty of water to wash and rince well so calculate on the MOST you may need. Decide weather you intend to do all windows with WFP or just Upstairs. I personaly have decided to use Pole and brush on anything I can so I have calculated at 300ltrs per working day x 5 days = 1500ltrs per week. So if I have a static system at home in the garage producing water 7 days aweek I can devide 1500ltrs by 7 and that would be my MINIMUM! RO capacityper day.
What size RO do you want?
RO's are measured in US Gallons per day. Now they are calibrated using three figures.
1 TDS Tap water - 500
2 Temperature Tap water - 25c
3 Presuer tap water - 60psi
Altough yoyr TDS may be lower than that the other 2 will be lower so calculate at 70% of the RO capacity. (100 gpd = 70gpd)
There are 3.8ltrs per 1 US Gallon.
I have gone for a 100gpd RO and three 200ltr water buts with 10 30ltr barrels to take out.
Calculation as follows
1500 ltrs per week / 7 days = 215 ltrs every day
215 ltrs / 3.8 = 57 US gallons
100 GPD @ 70% = 70 US Gallon
= 13 US Gallons Spare! (Probably the RO will have Sun or Mon off!!!)
CLEAR AS MUD!!!
And someone is bound to tell me I'm wrong!!
