Connecting pole hose to reel hose. Help!!!
« on: December 08, 2013, 07:50:24 am »
After 5 years of messing about with the Pure Freedom tap I've just got to change. Yesterday, after barely 3 weeks I had to replace the male on my tap, yet again. At least it wasn't the painfully expensive Rectus 21 female this time, but give it a month.... Problem this time - just wouldn't click together. They both usually last 3 months or so.

Here's what I have - http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/images/products/4e15ba433e9ef-3Fv9.jpg without the disc. I have giant protectaball on the microbore and small one on pole hose behind the Rectus 21 female and I am careful not to drag them around - I walk them back to the reel too. Both are supposedly genuine Rectus 21. Still they leak or bust.

I've tried Gardiner's EZ snap - same problem - 3 months life span or less before they go bandit.

We really need some "made for the business" connectors. Alex - get designing!

Can you all PLEASE post images of your pole/hose set ups along with recommendations (Pro 26?). I need to change for around 3 or 4 poles so it will cost a bit but it'll be worth it if I can solve this problem or at least reduce it.

Thanks

Hi Ian,

I saw your post but doesn't solve the problem for me - it's the Rectus 21s I have a problem with.

I did try your taps once but had your problem, so abandoned in favour or PF again. The red cast metal PF tap itself is hardy enough if you are careful.

Hi Carl2009 I have the answer .
I have always had the identical set up to you from pure freedom for about several years and the female rectus on the pole hose .
Their about £7 , then after 2 weeks you get the general drip .
£7 plus the other male end plus postage etc
Also the microbore tap is about £15

Now here's the answer

A small shop in Hunslet , Leeds I popped into after good advice on here about this shop . The bloke is Asian and very helpful , he gets excited easily at sorting you out , very nice bloke .

He suggested I change all 5 of my pole hoses to a MALE END at £2 each = £10

Then on my two Microbore hose reels we stripped the Tap assembly away -binned it . And fitted two female valves that when you disconnect the pole male end it acts as a stop valve .
Therefore so much lighter , stronger and more durable .
Most importantly CHEAPER .

HIS number is 07825 335 790
Ask for Naz I think , say you want similar to Kempy about your pole hose valves and microbore tap fittings .

I'm sure he'll post to u

I'll take a photo and post on here via franky or Jonny .

Hi Kempy

Thanks for this. I did consider this before, but I saw two problems:
1. The water from the pole hose empties as you gather it in, thus losing water (and creating and initial splutter), not much but some.

2. There is no inability to stop the flow between windows without unsnapping the connectors (see 1). If you just let it flow you waster even more water.

I don't want to go to an Aqadapter as I don't a) want the weight and b) I use Lite 5 hose which is stretchy and wouldn't work.

Cheers

Or ok , probably no good for you then .

As I use the aqua adaptor , the new VLITE is very very light and as it sorts out water useage and coupled with these pole hose fittings to prevent leaks then it's a winning combination .
Totally the best way to go for me anyway .

I'd try it on say 1 set of reel , and say 2 or 3 poles .  But you would need to buy a few AD .
Or use the pole hose fittings and put a hand held gardiners tap in your hand , but these push fit ones leak .

I like the way I have done it now as I've got rid of a extra microbore tap assembly which I didn't need , as the aqua adaptor turns the flow on and off .

The pictures may be on here later , and others can see .

hi Carl have you thought of tinkering with a remote control set up on the controller, if anyone has gone this route would be good to hear about it, also how much are you paying for your taps and females from pure freedom?
