Mr Miyagi says, " Brush on, brush off"
« on: December 07, 2013, 09:32:19 am »
Do you rinse with your brush on the glass or off the glass?

Now, I'm not talking real high where the height may 'force' you to rinse on the glass, I would like to explore the height of say a house ( ground and first floor, maybe that attic window the next floor up) where your sub-conscious mind decides for you, with or without you even thinking about it.

So, lets think about the time we don't even think. What is really going on in there? What is the real thought process? What are your thoughts of rinsing with the brush on the glass or off the glass? Why do you do it?
Why do you think you do it?

I used to always rinse off he glass, something inside Mr Brian told me if you rinse on you will leave dirt on the glass from your brush. Well a year ago I decided to man up and try rinsing on, both top and bottom. That was a year ago now and I will never go back to rinsing off, thus much quicker rinsing on, less stress on your body and the quality of the job is not affected. Plus I find it helps tremendously to avoiding over spray on top frame

How does rinsing on the glass work? It is just another pass over the glass from top to bottom as you would do rinsing off the glass. Ie just another scrub from top to bottom. Never figured this one out

me personally wouldn't rinse on with a slow flow rate, for me it has to be fan jets and a very high flow rate. I scrum in a up down motion on top windows, I over lap the strokes so infect the glass gets scrubbed twice in one motion, I do this fairly rapidly. When it comes to rinsing I ease off the pressure I'm applying on the glass, my motion is just a bit slower than scrubbing. I rinse from right to left dropping down all the time till I reach the bottom. I don't use soft splayed brushes as I'm fearful these may hold a bit of dirt. I use gardiner white duel trim brush. Again I will say nothing is set in stone here, it's just the way I have found suits me better. One thing for sure is that your not half as knackered at end of day. For me it makes the job quicker, easier on the body and can do more windows in a day which equals more dosh lol

Rinsing on the glass is a slow controlled method. Done right, its no extra scrub :)

I spent last year rinsing OFF the glass, but my brush was a soft car wash brush.
Then I bought a ultralight sill brush and after reading this forum I thought I would try it.  I had to put my flow up a little from 20 to 25 but that seems to be doing the job.  plus its faster than brush off the glass rinsing.

Yup. That is what I think as well.

Having looked at the result from rinsing on the glass and off the glass by using a friends house each month as a test bed for various way of using wfp and have done for about 4 years, as I clean his windows for free on that basis, rinsing off the glass always produces the best result where as rinsing on the glass does sometime but not others and it's unpredictable.

Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

Tried rinsing on the glass but found i was getting spotting in the corners.

For domestics it's rinsing off for me. Gives me peace of mind.
