Hi Ben

This chap looks after the poles very well and as a result gets a long life from them. I have even used this video for clients to show them what is possible in the way of maintenance. If done regularly and well (!) then it would prolong the life of the pole considerably. It is best done when the pole is moderately worn and not waiting until it is fully worn out as generally the results are not as good with a 'dead' pole. Most people would also find that they would need to lacquer the high wear areas of a section more often than the rest of the pole needs it.

Would I do it?
No as I do not find it is needed and I am more lazy than this client  Keeping a pole clean at all times is usually enough for me to prolong the life of the pole. Upgrading to the Smart clamps is also a great way of making an old pole work like new. I have done this myself on several of my poles and instantly they work like new.

thanks Alex, i think you are right, the new smart clamps are the solution, very happy with mine on my 2 years old pole

The video was for a competition and we won
First place and got a Gardiner back pack and aqua dapter.

If I would have done a 30 sec video I doubt we would have won.

Now I know you got a back pack and aqua adaptor out of it 7 mins is the perfect length
