Never had a strainer on mine and it's been going 6 years all day everyday without any problems.

My worst is Gardener adjustable( crank) extended goose neck they always brake at the same stop. It  seems to brake at this time of the year when it starts getting cold. Alex has replaced two but have broke the two replacements last week and one this week I do believe they need some design up grade.

What do you find wrong with it Stuart ?
Have used one for years with no problems at all.
Once fitted you just screw off the clear plastic remove and clean the metal filter and put it back in.
Just make sure you clean it when the tanks empty. I do it once a year when I have the tank emptied
for the vans m.o.t.

Our tank lid is outside (back of a truckcab Land Rover) so we do get the odd bit of crud in the tank so the strainer is a necessity. Due to the limited space for the equipment the pump and strainer must be mounted above the tank - therefore the daft strainer thingymabob tends to get airlocked.

Wagtail.

Bought 2 of them for a job and find them useless. The cloth/microfiber bit is too short to flip over the blade so constantly falls down again.
Both of them are in the junk bin with all the other useless crud now.
