New starter (kind of)
« on: December 04, 2013, 07:17:54 pm »
Hi,

I recently sold all of my equipment thinking that carpet cleaning was effecting my asthma. It seems however it makes no difference with the exception of cleaning up masses of pet hair.

I have now realised why I became a carpet cleaner in the first place. I really hate window cleaning!! Any way I digress..

I have been thinking of starting up again and have been looking at the powr flite equipment. I had a ninja before so quite like the series motor set up. The only thing is Black max package i like comes with a wonder wand. I am used to cleaning with a conventional scrub wand but the wonder wand looks difficult to use in comparison on videos and this review http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CyuWJZJO1k .

For those of you who have experience with a wonder wand what do you think?

Get the feeling if the wonder wand was great more companies would use that design ... just like if the eco500 was great it would not be the only machine using that configuration  and it wouldn't spend half its life in classified sections .

Black max is probably good value but u could have an Enforcer with immersion for 2200  .. arguably a more modern design with some nice features and 2" plumbing and a power increase over the stock lamb 5.7 series setup in the blackmax .

With the wonder wand I quite like the principle behind the design but its the thought of having to lower your arm every time you push it forward which puts me off.

One reason other manufacturers may not use the design is powerflite claim to have patented the concept.

Does anyone out there actually use a wonder wand or has used a wonder wand?

Robin, I've used one from the late nineties until now. It's brilliant.

It's slightly modified (from roller to extra wide "skid"). I have the handle really high up (above the curve) and rather than move the arms down (and bend the back ... ouch!) I just walk forward with it. Result, no backache (which I used to get quite badly with a "normal" wand).

With the constant flow, you just keep the trigger pressed to get a really good (controlled) flush through.

It's on here from about 1'40" onwards....  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2O21jeE3Iw

Hi Garry,

The wonder wand you have is a push type the one which is supplied now is a pull type and will work similar to a conventional wand except you have to drop your arm to push it forward on the roller which is the bit which worries me.

Its really not an issue after using it for a few days. Find something more important to worry about like where has all of the gold in the world dissapeared too.  ;D

The wonder wand doesnt suit everyone. We love ours but we do run it at 500psi + which makes a difference in its performance. We dont need to do many dry passes with it even at that pressure.

There are still times when a scrub wand is useful. We would normally have both on the van.

Here is a good article written by John Kelly at Restormate explaining why having different wand options is worthwhile.

Its part of our master plan here in Scotland.

Infiltrate parliament. Sell off the gold to the Neds (Scottish Chavs)

Go for independence.

Keep all the gold so you can sell to the Aliens when they return and us triumph as the master race we truly are.

My mrs has got/bought everything else all from Meadowhall she's stock piling it she's disguised it as shoes but don't be fooled she's planning to take over and I think she has an army of caterpillars to help her.
