I think a TM is a good idea if you service an area that is mainly made up bungalows, detached houses with drives etc. Like Mike for example.

This would be an ideal world but just looking at my diary, out of the 17 jobs the week just gone, only 5 where doable with a TM.

When you get focused you can get in to 99% of properties even with what looks like a longer set up with hose management you win back on the time of the cleaning but tbh you have to have the work.

I've had to use my portable for two days this week as a bearing went on my truckmount and it just makes it a long hard day if your busy, ok now and again but not full time.

I amnot convinced with regard to the magna  heater! A mate of mine who lives in stafford purchased one on these heaters from new from the supplier ! He couldnt maintain those temperetures for long as the video sugests and the thing packed up not long after ! The supplier/manifacturer tried to blaim my mate for its demise ! He eventualy got his money back and purchased a mighty! He hasn't had any bother with that as far as I am aware

I dont know Stuart  .. i have no experience of the Magma  ,  i have used an Ashbys Steammate .
I persume they are all the same inside  ( i could be wrong )   ie   a 3kw is three 1000w heater joined together   ....  just as this 2kw example is two 1000w heaters joined .

Differences after that is lightly the insulation used and the ancillary electronics , thermostat's ect .

Have no idea why the Magma didnt function well and failed  ...  to get the steady heat in the vid they have pressure set at around 275 ... any more give poorer results . they also have or had two versions of the magma , perhaps he had the less powerfull one ?

The Mytee gets good reviews it is just 2400w  ...  it is made up of four 600w heaters units  .    Why 2400w ? ... thats the max available at Americas 120v on their 20amp circuit . 
So its not optimized for the 230v region ... to chance the heater units would probably need a body redesign to fit more or different units .
The 3kw UK ones should be better for heat .

I have a magma 3 years old and works perfect even with cold water it does performs as in the video
but every supplier does get there problem units

Had a truckmount for over a year now the difference between truckmount and portable is massive I still use my porty for some jobs but its a pain in the arse best thing I ever did was getting a truckmount.

high end porties are lovely to work as an etm. No difference in power as the hose usually is 50-75ft, so just a bit longer when you would take it inside or just outside of the house.
Work goes much much faster, no lift problem, no bucketing to fill the machine and empty it, no noise in the  customer house, noise is outside takig atention of others.
Some says it is stupid when you are using machine like that, those people probably never tried it.

Yes there is. The more line you put on a portable the less performance you will get. By having a porty in a van you are bound to use more hose than you would otherwise and that has got to affect performance.
When I think of the range of jobs we do with our smaller TM  (Max 450D) having a portable mounted in a van would be a complete and utter nightmare and only slightly less of a nightmare than doing them with a mobile portable.

70% of the job I have I use 50ft hose, 35% 75ft hose, 5% jobs longer then this.
so, how you see a difference between using machine in the house/outside the house with 50ft house and on the van with the same lenght of the house.

Irish houses must be different to ours. We use 75 feet on nearly all domestics, even with the TM parked on the drive.

here here me only being 4,10 and 8 stone I found lugging my extracta exle up the stairs a pain in the back !! most blocks wouldn't lift them but I did guess that's what you get from living on a working farm

I can do just as good of a job with a porty as a can with a t.m. but its a lot slower a lot slower and the customer loves the t.m. better makes them feel good because next door had theres done buy a guy that had a little box thing ??
