You can scratch the windows with those scrapers if there is any grit on them so just make sure you clean off the blade before using it again.
I use the Gardiner ones, they do a good job when used at the correct angle!

This is why im asking i wasnt after a lesson on the subject.

as its only the odd job that needs scraping we usually just use a scraper on a trad pole, we put the brush above so water runs down and then scrape upwards making sure plenty of water on the glass
