Staff issues /Hours

Hi All,

It has come to the point where I will have to take on an employee, my question is to those of you with employees if you are travelling between jobs do you pay them for that time? One of my jobs is 30 mins each way so that would be an hour without working I want to do the right thing but I have never understood how other companies with fleets on the road manage their staff.
At this stage it would be just one person working alongside me so I would be doing all the driving but I hope that in the future this may change. I know I would obviously have to pay a driver a mileage allowance.. but this is not something to worry about just yet..

I look forward to some advice.

Thank you

Sarah

Hi,
We pay when there get to first job and stop paying when last job is done anything in between they get paid. It's down to you to price this in to the job hope this helps.

I pay from start to home, but not any extra than 8hrs aday, we sometimes finish a little late, but that's time back for day's we finish early.

Everyone wants security and to know how much they will have coming in each week. When I first started out, I only paid days we worked, but I found it difficult to get people to stay, I wouldn't work for anyone not knowing what I was likely to earn!

The guy with me know is guaranteed his wage weekly regardless, if we can't work for whatever reason, I keep him busy with something else.

Thank you both.. It does seem the right thing I would want to know too.. I just gathered that some companies where I live (speaking to ex employees are paid for what they work  and are given very little time to get between jobs! I just want to be fair
.. I guess I have to look at my pricing!
