This might give you food for thought as well.

the beginning of this youtube vid demonstrates the biggest con in carpet cleaning today, what I call  'the immediate foam effect' and is the most commonly used trick by sellers of low moister systems a light application of foaming cleaner will give a temporally appearance that the carpet is having the dirt removed but it is just the optical effect of the foam, give it a few minutes and it will look completely different

here is another conman using the same snake oil  effect.....

what you are seeing is 80% optical illusion 20% actual cleaning. never judge a LMC on the immediate effect but how it looks the next day

You do not indicate what your other business is, but I think it might be better to concentrate on that , put your time money and effort into making that grow

I find it incredible that somebody thinks that they are going to equip themselves as a professional in any industry for the cost of a decent upholstery tool or wand. I would not have the cheek to walk into the customers house with something like a puzzi and expect the to part with money. Not even worth the hire charge.

Think this will help you with your start up

I wanted to take the time to personally invite you to join our group of cleaners online at fatcatcleaner.com. I know, I know who has time to chat on a forum when you have a business to run. Let me be clear that we are not your normal run-of-the-mill forum.  We are focused on brainstorming real strategies that generate real growth in our businesses.

If you are looking for fresh ideas for you marketing, have daily "in the field" operational questions, or simply want some feedback on ideas you are considering implementing then this forum is right for you. We are approaching 1000 members already and growing fast.

We have some great success stories from members of our forum, we have one member who doubled his sales in 3 months, another who shared how he did over $235K in his second year in business, and another who just doubled his prices and shared how he is now selling at premium prices....and many more success stores.

I hope you will take the time to at least visit our forum and see if you feel there is some value to helping you grow your business.  And yes, membership is 100% free. We also have fun monthly give-a-ways for equipment and chemicals. For example this month we are giving away a Dri-pod air-mover and a few cases of Bridgepoint cleaning chemicals for the winner of our before and after carpet cleaning & tile and grout cleaning contests!

Thank you for your time and consideration
