Just wondering if any of the pure water guys are selling their purified water to customers for their irons? The likes of Halfords sell it as do Tesco's for around 60p per litre. I am considering doing the same but not sure about the legal implications regarding the water companies. Any advice useful please.

You can sell it for whatever you like.
You've bought it from them, purified at cost, sold on.
Like any other product in the market.
Not sure you'll make millions from it though bud.
My mrs uses about 3 or 4 litres a month.
There's 4 of us in our house.
On your figures, you're looking at £2.50 a month.
Better off selling in bulk to other shiners it cleaning yourself.
Fella here was selling @ £10 for 650l a few years back.
He had 6 lads all filling almost daily.
He made some $ on that!
Despite claiming to be a 'church mouse'
Fair play to him I say.
To you, perhaps your margins might be higher selling in larger quantities or commercially.

I have been doing a lot of research on the recycling of rain water and the thing I did not know is if its collected of you roof you ill need pre filter the same as before and OR. AS the water ill contain organic matter from plants and animals and ill kill your Resin in your D I quickly. Even if your Tds is readings are low as this broken down organ matter will  not push your TDS up and your. TGS meters do not measure organic matter, only resolved minerals. So for all the recycles there is some handy information.

Thanks for your very informative answer. I was not sure if the water companies charged a different rate if people are using water and selling on (a commercial rate instead of a domestic one). The idea of selling water to other window cleaners is an interesting one. I will post another thread about this.
I reckon the profit margins would be good for selling water for ironing. Tesco charge approx 70p per litre. I am thinking £1 for 2 litres. However it is fact that anyone wanting to do this would need to sell to lots of people to make much money. I my case it's just a little extra money to help towards paying kids school trips and things like that.

I have a handful of customers who buy water, if i am cleaning they ask for a 5L container to be filled up. I usally get £3 for 5L. I have a welded in and padlocked money box, any tips or money goes in this and then emptied at xmas.

What about selling it to car washes to rinse all suds and chemicals of cars when finished washing them, they usually employ someone to shammy water of which usually takes a few minutes, think of the money/time they could save by giving a quick rinse with pure. Wayne

I have a ready made client list - the people who I clean windows for.

None of them are car washes. If I ran a car wash I would buy the equipment and filter the water myself but I can't see my domestic customers doing it!

This would only work if you were on a commercial rate with your supplier or your on a meter otherwise once your water board find out how much your wasting  down the drain they'll no doubt start billing you for it!

You get billed for every millilitre that comes in and 90% on top for waste anyway.

Some of these water companies are taking the Mick there is not reason the tds is so high as they also filter and DI the water before you receive it.All drinking water is purified they are just doing a crap job and charging the earth. IF This is not true what do they do at the water works.

A lot of them already have RO units of their own.
