Military surplus Gore-Tex lined boots. £50 new. or £30 for grade 1 used. Had mine (grade 1 used) for 18 months, and yes they are waterproof!.

North face boots. About £120 but might get some in a sale. My fifth winter just about to start. I will live I em for the next 6 months. Keep waterproofing them and they will serve you well.

I've just bought two pairs of Berghaus Explorer Trail Lights.  Have to buy two because after a fall in 1978 I have different size feet.........so......

..........if anyone's got feet size 11 (Left) and size 91/2 (Right) I have a spare pair, brand new - absolute bargain ;D
