Which Gardiner?! Help.
« on: October 17, 2013, 05:22:58 pm »
Hi. Ordering my first WFP system next week and it comes with a Gardiner CLX-22 with the choice of changing poles if I desired.
I haven't really got any jobs which require a 2nd floor clean, it's mainly upto 1st floor although some of my work is high. But I do want the option of 2nd floor or even 3rd floor cleans as I aim to pick up some commercial work etc.
So, what I'm asking is, which Gardiner should I go for? Is there a huge difference in the CLX and SLX? Much heavier etc? I'm thinking of getting either the SLX-25 or the CLX-27. Or even the CLX-22 if its recommended?
I won't be using the pole all the time as I'll still be doing some trad, I may only be using the pole for a few hours a week to begin with.
Thanks.

slx 25 will reach everything is a great pole and not too bendy, the clx at 22 is more than good enough as a starter pole as well

Does a CLX-22 reach most 2nd floors? Even on an old, higher building?
Also, is the CLX a good pole, better than average?
Cheers

Ive just ordered an SLX 30 today, gonna strip it down to a 22 and only use the rest when required. Was thinking of gettin CLX, but all the reviews on here persuaded me to go for SLX :)

Wayne,
Don't forget to order some extra pole hose, enough to do you when your using the pole as a 22
Keep the SLX 30 hose and change over when needed.
If not you will be tripping over pole hose all day.

Can someone please explain how high a CLX 22 can reach?

If you work on the basis of ground floor, then 1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd etc.

I'm guessing it'll reach all 1st floors (even old higher builds) with ease. But what's it like on 2nd floors?

Thanks

My CLX 27 reaches all NEW ground-first-second.

It will reach MOST OLD second too but not all.

I use a CLX18 for my everyday pole it reaches all 1st floors even on old higher builds.
A CLX22 would be handy for the odd hard to reach window over a conservatory but it
might struggle on some 2nd floors.
I do a few 2nd floor properties and it takes a 25ft pole.
If you can only get one pole then go for a SLX25 you can always add sections to it later.

my CLX 18 is fine for 2 all storey houses, easily. My CLX 22 only just copes with (most) 3 storey houses, a 25 or 27 is best for 3 storeys

Seems like I'd better order the CLX 27 then, for them slightly higher jobs and to have more options for commercial work also.

Yeah it's a good pole for the money. I may be wrong, I think Gardiners do an extension to make the CLX 27 a few feet longer which could be handy for the odd higher one

Hi
I have clx 18 22 and slx 30.

They all do a different job I think if I where you I would take the clx 22 it will do most things on domestic except higher 3 story.  The slx is a good pole but I have  started to question the advantages versus cost for domestic. Below 25 feet I don't think the flex is an issue.

Then I would look at getting an slx 30 down the line when work gets going you may need something Even bigger if you are going to go for commercial.

Cheers

I use the slx25 as an every day pole.,its great for domestic and 80% of the commercial I do.
If you look on the gardiner site it has a pole size chart the poles are quoted in actual length.
So an slx or clx 22 will be 22ft long then with your body length the working reach will be around 25-26ft.
When looking at buildings allow 8-10ft a floor.

I did this customer this morning (Daycott & Kirk).

The front pavement and car park slope away from the building slightly. I can just reach the top of the top floor windows with my SLX22. I'm 5' 7" tall.

Cheers mate, that seems like quite a low 3 tier building, maybe I do need one slightly bigger. Think I'm going to order a CLX27.

If you've not already bought it, I have one for sale that is a year old.
