One for the black list Cambridgeshire folks
« on: October 16, 2013, 07:16:21 pm »
Did a job for an Irish couple today, alarm bells did ring once I got there, but try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Lounge / stairs and round bed in a bed room.
Started job, they went out shopping,I finish and call saying I am done,he replies I got a puncture, can you go home and I will drop off the money later,I was in Yaxley which is a good 25 min drive, said no I will wait till you get back.
10 mins later he calls again saying he is going to be a few hours waiting for recovery,I said ok then,I will take goods to the value of £75,which I can give you back once I have the money..2 mins later he turns up with 2 mates.
Long story short,it got a bit heated, not smoked for 5 days so I was a little irate .
Ended up chucking the bucket of filthy water I had put aside all over his hall way and driving off,he called me a few times on the way home saying he wanted me to come and sort it out..
First time in 9 years I have written off a payment, but was better to walk rather than start a war with pikies as there are loads of them in Yaxley...So guys don't work at 8 owl end walk in Yaxley
You won't get paid..

Said he was not happy, even though the carpets came up like new,he went round and found a few tiny marks ,which was just where the pile was in a different direction, the carpet in the lounge was nailed down, kept hitting my wand on them, pity they were stainless nails.

Mark, just read the post. There are a lot of travellers (to be polite) near where I live and in the early 1980s I used to clean the windows for a large family of them on a monthly basis. the whole family wanted all the windows cleaned inside and out and were EXTREMELY house proud, with the emphasis on extremely. Every time I called to clean I was walking on eggshells even outside the house, let alone inside!!

To travellers their home is as you say treated like a shrine, nothing is allowed to be out of place or have a spec of dirt, also they have little or no regard for us non-members of their community. My advice to you is take care when out in your van as its sign written and makes you an easy target for their anger.

Just watch your back and good luck
Phil

PS maybe safer taking up the ciggies  again ;D

Their anger, they have nothing to be angry at,I am the angry one for doing a very good job and being ripped off by them, well apart from the 10ltr bucket of dirty water out of the waste tank.

And yes there are loads of them around here, probably all related, driving round in their brand new flash cars, ripping people off with their shoddy workmanship and not paying their taxes.Where did I put my baccy ?  ;D
5 days today, but still not tempted

Hopefully you'll have delaminated the pikies carpet and create some smelly mould growth  :)

I cleaned a gypo's caravan once, many years ago when I first started. I wouldn't have taken the job on but I didn't know he was a gypo or know what scumbags they where back then. Channel 4 didn't do gypo programs back then...

And that bugger short changed me by £20. He said he would pass by my office (don't know I had an office) with the £20 the next day. I knew I wasn't going to get it, I was naïve and wasn't sure what to do so just left it.

That only happens once though!

I personally don't agree with throwing the water over his carpets, you have made a bad situation much worse, I'd move to a different county if I were you , these people have a very long memories........
This is the season for fine wine, and drunken friends, enjoy this moment, for this moment is your life.

Why is that ? I was just returning his dirt and his water, maybe next time he tries to rip off a fellow carpet cleaner he will think twice or possibly do what most normal people do and actually pay for the service.
I had always thought "they" were ok and stood up for them in conversation, but he has ended all that, won't ever be working for their kind again.

To be honest mate you don't mess with Pikey's they need the slightest excuse to wage a war on someone, it's like a hobby to them, hell they even murder their own (I read somewhere).

Now some of you will say sod that, they ain't gettin away with taking me for a mug. Fine, do what you want.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

"I had always thought "they" were ok and stood up for them in conversation, but he has ended all that, won't ever be working for their kind again. "

Strange conclusion, in other words if a certain individual belongs to a patcular group of people example  easten european,   asian,   students,    doctor,s  chinese...........  etc etc  you will boycott those groups if they do the dirty on you.      ::)roll

I actualy clean for some travellers, gypsies call them what you want   , every 6 months with out fail,  they are emaculate , they are proud , they are respectable  they pay good money , and  never complain, never barter.   they earn their money in a respectable way.

Dont draw conclusions just because you have been stung once is what i say.

geoff
who ever said dont knock before u try ,i never tried dog crap but i know i wouldnt like  haha
