Hi
Going to install a varies treat or similar to a two pump system .

Couple of questions do the dual ones control two pumps of one unit?

Secondly could I do it myself, is it simply a case of cable to my battery and connect to pumps?

I used to have a split relay to a semi traction battery but have just had a transit with two heavy duty battery's in parallel so don't think I need a deep cycle as well.

Any help appreciated.

Hi you have a choices in regard controls for a two pump system
1. You can buy two controls one for each pump
or
2. you can buy a dual controller

The dual controller takes a single 12V power source and will operate two pumps independently of each other. you calibrate each pump separately. The unit has separate DE detection for each pump plus the usual volt meter and PS detection.

As for fitting with the dual you have six connections two to the battery the two leads each out to the pumps. If you have some basic electrical knowledge fitting yourself is no problem. With a self install it is worth remembering that
1. Ensure correct polarity is observed when connecting to the battery
2. Fit the fuse in line on the Red cable between the battery and controller

3. Ensure the cables are as short as possible to avoid volt drop.

The Dual controller is rated to 15 amps as it has two pumps drawing current across it.

ian if i could trouble you again, thinking of getting 2 independent controllers. just thinking if you use a dual and it dies you cant work, but if you use independent you might drop to one man but something could still be done. only a tenner in it.

on connections though would you run two completely seperate feeds from battery or one to the pump panel and use some sort of connector to tie both pumps into it?

I would be thinking along the same lines as you. I think I would go for a seperate controller for each pump and wire them in seperately. If you could buy spare pc boards then I might look at this differently.

Came across this once with a dual controller in a Brodex system. In that instance it was cheaper to buy a Varistream controller and use it for parts. You could buy a Brodex spare pc board in those days but they were a lot more than a Varistream. As the Brodex controllers were an intergral part of the tank assembly, it also looked more aesthetically pleasing to keep it.

The Brodex controller was the same as a Varistream.

Yes i would agree with Spruce run two feeds from the battery one to each controller allowing you to fuse the units separately. Bearing in mind your email Have a look at the LL radio remote ultimates. Remember to ask for different frequencies though.

Re Brodex they changed the controller supplier I believe
