Just wondering if switching from using a trolley system to a van mount has saved you time and if so roughly how much on an average day?

Just going through this now lol.

Been trolley for 3 + years and at the moment i am still undecided.

I need to do the complete round maybe once or twice.

I am averaging the same per hour i guess, it just seems like so much hard work (off a hose)

I ditched my trolley 3 years ago.
Now I am 30 per cent faster and I don't ache half as much.
I am going to get shut of my 350ltr tank and get a 650ltr tank and a more powerfull pump.
I expect to  earn even more then

a vam mount will be needed if bigger jobs come your way,     keep using the trolley,    you have all the kit you need then.       it will give you more confidence to quote for bigger jobs.

a van mount will be quicker 99% of the time, dazomd is the man to ask but, trollys are soo slow

It depends on your jobs. most my work needs a trolley as a van mount would be a complete nightmare. If you can park up close enough to a job then I think it would be worth while but if you need to extend and go round garden features etc then all that pulling and untucking of hose would drive me nuts, even more so than I am now.

i would never go back to trolley,van mount is quicker and your not wrecked at the end of the day

With van mount, you get more walk up quotes, I think some custies look at the trolley and get impression it's a bit.....well, you know.

i've done it back to front, i started with a van system, found that stressful,

and had a person trip over the hose, kids kicking the safety cones down the road,

trying to not let the hose run over the dog poop, and thick green gob,
                                                                                                                                          (dirty  numptys)

and puke on the pavements,  plus the hose getting caught up with tyres and other

 obstacles,

tried the pure freedom trolley 50ltr one, which after a lot of tinkering and faffing

around with it, and dealing with the awkwardness of it,  decided to give the back

pack a try, and found that it really works for me,

i'm not worrying about the above, because there's no hoses on foot paths,

and i half fill a 25ltr container so 18 ltrs now become's a 30 odd ltr back pack.  

But i still have all the gear in the van if i want, or need to use it.    jp

i would never go back to trolley,van mount is quicker and your not wrecked at the end of the day

6 hours work with a trolley got done in 5 hours after going back to van mount after almost 2 years.
The trolley was great for conserving water though. And was quicker on the occasional job.
But van mount is the easiest and most productive method, day in day out.

The one thing i dont miss is straining my back lifting containers . It is so much easier without the trolley as for needing to get close really  close to a job,

Having 100 mtrs of hose makes the world of difference sometimes i dont move my  truck fo 2 hrs or more and the hose does not get snagged or caught on things that often .

I feel far more professional after ditching trolley . Mike

I have a bilge pump in my tank and fill my trolley in around 30 secs.

I also use the trolley to stand on to undo gates.

Depends on peoples rounds. My round is mainly small detached/ semis. So I don't usually need to refil on a house.

Early days tho only been on a hose for a few weeks

I changed from a backpack straight to a van mount.  I got sick of pouring the water from the 25L drums.  You fill up once at the end of the day and just work.  Now I want to upgrade from a 400L to  a 700 or 800 for a 2 man setup.

When I pull up into a road and clean 8 detached 4 bedders with about 5 seconds in between moving from one to the next and remember back to when after each house I used to lift a container  up to fill the trolley,  I cringe and shudder at ever thinking of using a trolley again.
It does depend on ur work though.
I am 99% detached houses with easy parking.

Van mount all the way IMO.  Something portable (trolley/backpack) for the occasional awkward job or part job.

i used a trolley for a year when i started and i was convinced it was the best way to work. its not!.its harder work and you waste time and energy filling up and lifting it in and out of the van.

i shaved an hour off per day switching to van mount straight away.yes the hose does drive you mad sometimes but id rather have 100m of hose on a reel than 25L barrels and a trolley to push around.

as for the comments about what type of work we all have.dont we all have lots of different types of work?i know i have.very compact estate 3 bedders,large domestic stand alones,commercial offices/care homes,groups of 4 and 5 bedders etc,etc.

you can get a hose anywhere with a van mount.for certain awkward jobs a trolley/backpack could be handy but i dont go after work like that.
