guys i need your help with a pump problem asap
« on: October 08, 2013, 02:05:13 pm »
I have had problems in the past with pumps etc, however this time I was cleaning a house for around 2 hours finished the jobs drove to the next one went to turn the pump on and nothing happened!
checked fuses
tried a different battery
cleaned strainer
there is no noise what so ever coming from the pump but it was working fine around 20mins before ???
I know some of you will say '' just order a new one'' but I really would like to avoid it if its a simple fix

Does it have a solenoid ?

If so put the wires together and start up the pump if it runs that's the problem

If you don't have a solenoid then it could be bad news ?  What make of pump is it?

On your pump are 2 wires red and black are these the only wires or is there 2 more I think both red leading down to the other end of the pump?

Shurflo are excellent 3 years is nothing for them

There is 2 wires out the top of the pump, and there are 2 onto the pressure switch at the bottom

It's up to you because it's been a long while since I've needed to play with a pump

But I'm sure you can by pass the pressure switch by wiring them together ( it works on the make I use ) the pressure switch is not required if using a flow controller

Here's a diagram of the pump

Exactly.
Check fuse and if that's ok then check your battery voltage.
If voltage is low give it a charge.

all sorted I think what happened was because I drain the tank on a weekend without using the pump, it must of had a massive airlock and the pump must of cut out.  All sorted now though ;D
