“If I don’t take the initiative to act, someone else will.

I have only been window cleaning for the past 15 months and got a bit lazy and just stuck at around 200 customers. I want to gain another 400 customers by June. there are 229 days excluding Sunday untill my target date.

I have a weekly canvassing sheet and I have to either get 2 a day or 13 a wek to be on target to achieve this.  Last week I got 10. Monday alone I got 9. Im sure it will slow down but ive never got less than 4 when ive canvassed.

At what stage will i need some one to help me do the round? This week im setting the van up as a two man system. Thing is, i love the canvassing but the more i canvass the busier im getting. At some poingt i suppose im going to be too busy to canvas. I think i am god at canvasing, well just persistant i suppose. Any advice on any of my plans would be appreciated. Cheers Kev

Goal 400+ new customers by June 2014 Target £5000+ per month

1.   I will work from 9-5 Monday to Friday; I will have 30 minutes lunch.
2.   I will work from 9-1 on a Saturday
3.   I will get 13 new customers every week
4.   I will wear uniform to work every day
5.   I will not have any lazy days
6.   I will get van set up as 2 man system
7.   Sell your business at every opportunity

Here is how I’m going to be earning £5000.00+ per month by June 2014

£5012.00 = £179 x 6 =  £1074.00 (per Week) £5012.00 (per 28 days)

416 customers @ £10.00 per month = £4000+ per month

October   23 days
November   26 days
December   26 days
January   27 days
February   24 days
March   26 days
April   26 days
May   27 days
June   24 days

Looks good, would it be worth paying someone to canvass while im working? I have a mate willing to do it for £20.00 a day then anything he picks up he gets the monthly price of it. So i wont technically be making more money for a while but he will hopefully be growing my business for me?

im still to scared to do it... I cant handle the rejection, and the people who look down on you, and the '' CANT YOU READ THE SIGN NO DOOR KNOCKERS.
Why would you knock on a door that says no door knockers? If you knock you are asking for abuse.
sorry I don't check every door for the '' no door stopper signs'' I have seen posts on here before is a common mistake actually

What I do:  If it says "no doorknockers" leave a flyer.  If it says "no junk mail", knock on the door.  If it says both, turn around and walk away.

also putting together a newsletter for customers - winter hours 8am start let us know if u dont want us there that early, new bank info, clean your fascias sofitts gutters for Christmas and introducing Dan who has come of dole so need more customers any friends or families need a windie etc etc or he is going back to dole  ;D

Browsing this thread the other day and thought I'd join in as haven't canvassed for a few months.

Did an hour and half last night and got 7 new customers, then got a call this morning from someone I spoke to and left a leaflet with wanting to go ahead. So that's 8 totalling £74.00. Back out tonight I think.

Try this:

I knock, then when they open the door I hold up my hands and say (quickly, before they get a chance to start on me) "I'm sorry, I knocked before I realised you've got a 'no callers' sign, and it seemed rude to just walk away without apologising."

I've never had a bad reaction to that, and people's curiosity is such that they can't help asking "What was it about, anyway?"

Then you're in ;)

The thing is that it is all fits and starts. If you work full time it is very hard to consistently get out to canvass. You need a different strategy. It could involve canvassing, but who really is up to canvassing an extra couple of hours a day when you have a hard physical job and a family/dog/AA meetings etc...  ;D

Someone with focus and ambition!
The way i see it is if you attack sooner than later you will be rewarded the sweets before its too late!!.
I spent the last 2-3 years canvassing heavy going from 1 man (me plodding) with under 300 customers to 2 vans (me motivated more than ever) with 1100 customers which is 500 more customers than i set out to gain but highly worth it.. It has caused big headaches with replacing messers and troublesome customers etc but i am now in a position where i can simply stop working and employ someone else on my round and take the rest of my working life easy from the 3 years of hard graft i have done to get here...all has been well worth it.

That is the trouble with canvassed customers, too many messers.

That said, what you have achieved is fantastic. Most people wouldn't have that drive to canvass like that. I wouldn't. I do intend to accelerate things very soon from picking up a steady 6 or 7 new customers a week.

persuaded one of my mates to canvass as a trial day tomorrow I said I will give him £20.00 for a full day and every job he gets me he will get 50% of the monthly price.
I have a uniform for him, clip board, leaflets etc

basically its just a trial to see if he gets any jobs for me, If he does I will have him once or twice a week, but I seriously cant canvass im to shy this lad is confident!

Any other advice for me?? ???

Gained 190 customers since may 10th and most of my work has come from word of mouth and door knocking

Started out 17 months ago today and am currently on 371 customers - i could have over 500 but ive always toke customers on my round who have messed me about at any point :) anyone that complains about me working in the rain ill educate them if they dont like then its cya later... but most customers are fine once u educate them about wfp in the rain.

My target was to gain 400 customers after 2 years... but now my target is 400 customers in 18 months so i got 1 month to gain 29 customers !

Anyone can do it :) all u gotta do is work hard for it ! u gotta get up and look for work if u want work cos if u dont then work will not come to u

Last week i done about 35 first cleans and they toke me ages and only 1 of them 35 new customers cancelled me and they were all from word of mouth and door knocking
