With Google withholding keyword terms coming soon its an advantage to know which works best or more used pharse as the better one will get higher position on the results page

I use both on exact match only, that way you have both covered.

I think exact match domain does help but can understand the arguments against it.
It certainly isn't the be all and end all of SEO and at best is a tiny percentage of the overall
website.

Always make sure content on your website in good, as Google looks for this.  I'm very highly ranked in Leeds for many Keywords (my wife builds website), key words such as window cleaner leeds, carpet cleaners leeds, commercial carpet cleaners, pvc cleaners leeds, and many more.  The content on each page helps.  I don't pay for any advertising.

Richard C.

Are you answering Ian's poll question?

Yes and no ;D (God i sound like Hector ;D)  i might i have misread Ian's question slightly, i was assuming it meant keywords in relation to Adwords when i suspect he means seo for his website.

Personaly I think too many people are obsessed with seo.

If you have a web site that gets lots of traffic and it ranks well all well and fine.

However, what I see many times is that those high ranking sites dont take advantage of their high ranking status.
To define this, what I see is that many sites are either lacking in content, not giving a prospective customer what he or she wants to know or the site is driven on price competativness against competitors.

In one of my local searches, a franchise ranks very highly. When i drop on the page there is little content and the contact no is difficult to find?

Some sites are highly complex and difficult to navigate around and are a non reality......which usually include the all too famous woman wearing the headset ready to answer your call.....I think this woman works for perhaps a million web sites ;D

And last but not least:
Re the thread about Vince achieving no1 in London.....

If that were my web site, I would be shouting sh!t that I am Londons no1 carpet & upholstey cleaning company with what would be the most glam and inspirational site ever built deserving of the people of London.....and also the prices to mach.

But what I see is.....
testimonial:#1 A job well done on our suite and curtains, will use you again after the new year. Thanks Scott :(
50% off.... :(
3 bed house £90  :(

and also..............

No offence to Vince whatsoever, but it seems to go across the board that too many people seem to get good ranks and do not take into consideration the immage they put forward.

Also it seems that many companies are fixated on pricing which is a huge mistake. Many of my customers either from my site or recommended see price as a secondary issue. It's all about creating trust and belief and not focusing on seo.

I don't see the connection. How does SEO negatively (or positively for that matter) affect trust and belief ?

They dont have any connection. I dont think you get my point.

If people land on your site, you have to encourage them that they have come to the place that can solve thier problems and that you are an expert in the field. Not only that, but it is a place of reality with real people that can demonstrate the work carried out and perhaps the people they have worked for.

Also image is important....I see many sites with (if they do have pictures) guys wearing jeans and trainers.

Using a high quality image will drive away price shoppers and encourage people who want a good service regardless of price. (mostly but not all the time ;D)
