Waiting for the new Facelift Phoenix 40 x to restock
« on: September 25, 2013, 12:45:19 am »
I'm waiting for the new Phoenix 40 x to come back in stock and would like to know what all your opinions are. It seems to be a good pole but I would like to know the pros and cons and what else might be out there before I make the final decision. I'm not up to date with the latest developments because I haven't needed anything for at least 5 years. The pole I am replacing which I have had for over 5 years of constant use is the Extel Hybrid pole (8 section x 5ft). Thanks.

I have just purchased the new slx39 from gardiners.

It should arive today so can't give you any feedback on use,but if anything like the 25 it will be great.

Like for like the two poles are around the same price but the Phoenix does not come with brush or neck so this will push the price up a bit.

So is it between the Phoenix and Gardiner's poles or is there anything else out there? Has anyone been using the Phoenix X, 40ft (or similar height) poles from the first batch that went out?

Gardiners provide the best poles by a fair margin and the best service by a significant margin.

I have 3 gardiners poles at 5, 4 and 18 months old still in use daily. All SLX or Extreme.
It's a game of three halves!

Can you elaborate how Gardiner's poles are better all round? I need to have the specifics when trying to decide. Thanks.

The Gardiner poles come in : CLX = Hybrid part carbon, part fibreglass.

                                                 : SLX = Carbon Fibre

: Xtreme = Hi - modulus carbon fibre

From top to bottom of the list = cheapest to most expensive / flexible to more rigid. What you want depends on your budget. But, but the best you can afford because your body will bear the brunt of a heavy pole overtime.
The SLX is a great pole for the money, light, more rigid than the clx. The Xtreme is the top class pole and the lightest and most rigid. Hard to beat. Check out their website for weight and length differences.
Oh, you could always buy a Brodex for longevity  ;D
