At the moment we are turning down work. It's a great feeling but when me and a mate began sometimes it was downright depressing. That was then but now 5 years on - the only real problem we get is the weather.

Just carry on leafleting and stick at it. Bit by bit it doesn't get easier, it all gets harder and harder as you work more and more. Just wait till you do that first £100 in one day. The feeling is terrific.

So .... stick at it mate.

Beefy has hit the nail on the head for me about this job, we live in a age of spin & commercalism ( thats spelt wrong but what the heck ) in this job you see the warts and all of society, and we get get to choose which bits we like, if we dont like we just say no sorry.

a point about feeling lonely. as a w/c ive met more nice friendly people than i ever did as a labourer or factory worker .im out in the country a lot & sometimes feel a bit isolated but 3 out of 10 houses will have a pensioner in who is desparate to talk as their relatves are dead & kids moved away, with some of these i now know more about them than i do about my own mum. these ones also seem to be the ones who insist im not charging enough & would i like an extra £1 . the buzz from from mthis alone makes w/c worth it never mind earning twice as much for 10hrs less. yr in the right job mate

cant think of many other jobs that this applies to.

Its really good to know that others have been in the same boat! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your words of advice and wisdom, I think this is truly what this forum is about!

I've had a few days when I've earnt £100 or more, and one day in particular last month where I was doing a one off job on a large country residence inside and out.I can tell you now, that was one of the hardest days work I've ever done, and the day after I came down with a really heavy cold, felt good to have earnt the money though!

And what made it worth while was when the lady of the house, who had watched me closely all day, said to me when I'd finished that she thought I was extremely good at what I do. If only I could get few more jobs like that!!

I cannot wait for summer, last year was great lets hope its a good one this year!
