I received the Craftex flyer yesterday, and was intrested to see the microsplit advertised as a spot cleaner. Apparently it "works instantly on practically any type of stain". Having never used micro-splitters do they all work this way?, and does it mean the end of the spotting kit?.

I think the word "practically" is the important word in this advertisment for  us the cardpet cleaner,but for a customer sold one of the trigger sprays in may well work on most stains if used immediatly on a fresh stain.

Well since using MS spotters my spotting kit has reduced dramatically

They are good on some stains not so good on others .

They are phosphates , primarily sodium tripolyphosphate , you will still need a range of different chemicals.

Don't use much polish  except on floors but I do carry quite a lot of basic chemicals , ammonia, hydrogen peroxide , white spirit , sodium hydroxide etc .

I am going to get some STPP and experiment with it.

I've never believed in carrying 20 products which are very similar .

Your method statements and risk assesments must be a nightmare on commercial jobs? do you leave the raw materials at home or carry the coshh/msds with you?

I use standard products on commercials either Prochem or Chemspec or if MS Craftex or Solution.

My box of tricks is more for stain removal .

I 've always believed the suppliers have many very similar products which they sell , I know we did when I worked in lab.

If you understand a bit about the background science or just experiment a lot you build up a knowledge of what you really need.

Craftex have kept it very simple by just having the one MS which you adjust the concentration of .

It is perfectly possible to use both MS and detergents , I quite often use MS as a prespray.

Most of the basic chemicals can be bought from the likes of Prochem , Chemspec etc , you just have to know whats in your pot.

So would We  be able to spot with micro-splitter, then apply our normal citrus pre-spray and rinse with u/m subject to testing?

They are all basically the same product but some will swear by One Step , the original., others Solutions , some Craftex .

Only way to make up your mind is to try them.
