Telesales not for me
« on: September 18, 2013, 05:01:49 pm »

I recently used a well known telesales company from this forum and would like to give my
personal opinion on the service they provided.
Prior to booking the service lots of emails and answers to questions lots of positive feedback on how much work they obtained ,etc, etc.
Booked a four hour session end result one Hotel.
I go to quote it to be told by the owner he had used two different companies wfp and because the windows and frames
were in poor condition they both had to come back twice!!
This was fed back to the telesales service.
After some thought and further emails and conversations decided to bite the bullet and go for another session.
This time a local Town Council and a large Doctors Surgery.
All good me thinks until I attend the Town Council Building to be told to price a clean but they have no money in their budget for it! Then the doctors surgery which is a 3 storey building I know well.
The contact there tells me the quote was to be for a front door and the adjoining window :-X
Now I do accept that Rome was not built in a day and you have to be in it to win it.
However the results for this service I used was a big fat zero.
So I would like to pass on to folk that just because someone appears to be doing well for some companies it is not always the case.
Think very carefully before parting with your money and wasting your time using this type of service.
Oh and email responses dry up when you say you will not be using the service again.
I may have just been unlucky but me thinks not.

You should try Beci Swan mate. Apparently she is amazing. One window cleaner on here seems about to retire on all the work.

I would expect everyone has a bad day mate, or two. Maybe speak to her again and see if you can work out some compromise. She can't be bad, otherwise she'd be out of business already. My thing is knocking doors, I love it, and get good results 95% of the time. Maybe you hit her 5% day.

Some will require converting from cold to hot.

You can't always expect to turn up and job done, especially if its a canvassed enquiry. You have to remember, the telesales people are cold calling, turning it into an enquiry of sorts, probably on price too, something like "see if we can save you some money".

They are not hot, like incoming enquiries from people looking for a window cleaner. Exactly like domestic canvassing.

Does she give you a list of the people they called, if not you just don`t know if the work was done.I would want a list of names /companies and phone numbers they called so I can follow up. This would give you some indication of the volume of calls made. Afterall its what you paid for the successes and the failures.

Yes you do get a spreadsheet ,I must have been pretty unlucky then !
It is nothing personal but feel it only right to point out the pluses and minuses
from using this type of service.
Just not meant to be for me.

8 hours telesales work isn't much to base a review on to be honest!

Hi Russ

I am sorry that you are disappointed with the results we achieved.

We secured 3 appointments over our 7 hours calling for you, so whilst not our top results, these were with the companies approved by yourself, as we confirmed or replaced where requested the companies on the proposed contact list before calling commenced on both occasions.

We are professional people and approach every call with the same effort, with the objective of securing an appointment for quotation where we are given the impression of interest.

I do not know quite how to comment on my emails 'drying up'. If I had told a company that I was no longer interested in working with them, I wouldn't appreciate their continued contact - I apologise if this wasn't what you expected.

Telesales, canvassing, leaflets or ad's in the local paper. The results will vary from day to day - week to week it doesn't mean the canvasser did a bad job or your leaflets are rubbish,  having said that using telesales will throw up more of the "just looking for a cheaper price" brigade and if your happy to slash your prices to undercut and get work then that all fair play.  I think you have to take the rough with the smooth and next time you may get several untapped leads where there is a genuine opportunity to get work.

You just got to keep plugging away mate

That is the bottom line but as always with these types of things, and no insult intended to Becci, for some reason the cost never gets mentioned.
