Peeps.
Bearing in mind the Insurance requirement to keep your van locked when not with it.

How do L5 users mount / use their units and get sufficient ventilation to dissipate the carbon Monoxide.

Do you mount inside with some kind of a vent?

Do you have a mounting system on the outside when you a re working?

Don't lock my load space.
Obviously never more than 100m from my van though.
It's a risk.

Is that just the back door open, is that enough to dissipate the gas

Yeah. The cab is locked.
I've been on hot for 4 years like this with no issues. (Different boiler though)

fitted a lock on my van doors at the back,

can leave enough for the gasses to escape through the flue I made for the van and the doors are padlocked so no one can get in unless they have some good bolt cutters!

Thats a little bit forward thinking of you, and its quite an outlandish assumption. Insurance companies insure you for the risk you say you undertake, insurance companies do not tell you what you can and can't do.

The L5 heater is designed for outdoor use only, therefore its hung inside the van avoiding combustible materials as stated in the manual and operated with the van door open thereby simulating or keeping true to an open air situation. The carbon dioxide dissapates into the atmosphere like its designed to do.

CleanClear. I take your point, but I have to say Insurance companies do tell us what to do indirectly. If a claim is made and the van has been insecure in any way they will not pay out, therefore they require the van to be locked when unattended..

Thats the thing though, vans are all different , some are open some have partitions so the drivers cabin is secured. Its not a given that youre not insured when working out the back of the van when its open. AA, RAC, tyre fitters etc we all do it.
