« on: September 12, 2013, 04:52:26 pm »
Been looking into buying some alloys for the van.
Im thinking 19inch vauxhall VXR wheels, i currently have a 400ltr tank in the van would i need weight bearing tyres fitting or should it be ok

Save your money mate, not worth blinging a van up especially 19 inch wheels when you carry a full load.
I had 19's on my e46 m3 and cost me £260 for a new tyre!. So in the 2 years you will keep the van for would cost around £1000 on wheels alone if bought knew and then a grand to change all tyres after 18 odd months. A lot of money to spend on a work van to have nice big wheels.

To remain legal, you definitely need weight appropriate wheels AND tyres. Your vauxhall vxr alloys may well not have the necessary weight rating, you would need to look into this to be sure. As for your 400l tank, that doesn't make any difference, what matters is your gvw, which in the case of the primastar is either 2.7 or 2.9 tonnes.

Nothing wrong with having a 'work van' look nice, gets plenty of good comments  from custies.
Looks better imo than turning up in a rusty old shed, looks like I take pride in my work!

Nice looking van there Jarvy, subtle and classy. Mind you, my van is silver, with blue lettering!, no alloys though!.

19's would look the daddy but you're in it all day-you don't want your vertebrae shattering every time you go over a pebble.
16's to 19's is a big jump.
