truckmount waste tank

hi,stripped my lid seal on the waste tank today.went to put the new seal on the tank,two thirds the size of my waste tank.Wrong fecking seal.Any ideas of a quick fix to get by till i can get the right seal....

Anything that cushions and can be cut to shape, I used a piece of carpet, cut to fit snugly inside the lid. I tried draught excluder but found when the tank flexed with the suction it allowed air to leak in.

This was on an aluminium Prochem tank which had a braced section, if your tank is just an open top the carpet idea wouldn't  work as it would just fall out

High modulus silicone - from B & Q or the likes.   Put it on thick on the full width of the rim on the top of the tank - not on the lid.   Perfect seal and will last you till your an OAP and beyond
