Attention all gardiner pole users. Why not make the day pass quicker by playing a simple game with your workmates. Simply pick a number from 1 upwards depending on how many clamps you have ,then when the next clamp spins award yourself the same points .if the glue fails and the clamp comes loose award yourself bonus treble points .whoever has the most points at the end of the day wins . As fun as that sounds (not), I'm sure you must be finding that actually quite tiresome.  I haven't been notified of this problem via the Office so I presume you haven't contacted us direct?  Anyway - I'd like to help so drop me an email

Have to agree with Barry though. I've had three clamps fail since replacing them . Bought some glue from b and q that works better. I did contact office first time it happened and had to buy more glue as they said there glue was best,  the second time it happened I just bought some from b and q and that clamps still going strong . Unfortunately one of the others has now failed so more repair work needed.

Is it the clamp that has 'failed' or is it that the upgraded clamps on the old pole have become detached from the sections that you have glued them to?

If it is the latter this will probably be due to the preparation of the two surfaces. The glue that is supplied with the upgrade kits is fantastic stuff specially formulated for bonding such materials together. It is usually either poorly abraded or poorly cleaned surfaces that would cause the glue to not hold the clamp in position following an upgrade of an older pole.

I think we're looking at it wrong.
I never think my clamps are gonna stay glued on forever.
If I have to reglue them every 6 months or a year then I'm happy with that.
Clamps on my Ionics poles seemed to stay stuck for between 6 months & a year.
Don't see why Gardiner's won't be the same...
Don't think Alex says (or implies) that they'll stay on for the life if the pole.

I have 4 gardiner poles (they are the corgies), across the 4 poles I have 7 gaffer tape repairs. All of the gaffer tape repairs have now lasted longer than the original glued clamps.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of gardiner poles, but the clamp glue is a bit ropey.

Good quality gaffer tape is an essential spare part for the van tool box.

Alex, I bought a new pole and a complete set of replacement clamps a few weeks ago. The glue came in a couple of sachets. How many clamps would the glue cover?

I don't get why you have to rub pole down to use special glue when araldite without rubbing pole down works better

The glue from 1 sachet should be enough for about 6-7 clamps as long as you prepare everything first and then apply the glue quickly. The glue goes a lot further than it looks.

Long term if you prepare correctly and use the correct glue it will last better as it is slighty flexible to match the flexibility in the clamp and the carbon. Araldite is great (love the stuff), but is not as flexible especially as it ages - which is why it will often work at first and then crack away after a few months.

Been using Gardiners poles for a year now, and have not had any problems with the clamps.   I think a lot of these silly posts are just jealous of the success of the best pole manufacturer out there.

My ionics grafter had three broken clamps in the first month and they literally twisted off with just slight pressure .

no problems with the glyder carbon pole (apart from being heavy and bendy)

not had a single broken clamp or clamp come unglued on either of my gardiners poles , and my 18ft clx has been properly abused.


yes there are niggly problems sometimes , like the push fit fittings letting go of the hose too easily when you snag but they are easily the best poles and very good customer service.

The Grafter (when they were first released) used the sticky foamy adhesive. Crap.
They sorted that after the first run from what I saw.
Someone I knew had one when they first came out with that adhesive.
I got one 4 or 5 months later, completely different adhesive. Really good actually.
Early days for my Gardiners so I can't pass comment yet.

I've been WFP for 10 years and never broken a clamp (other than wearing down so need to be replaced) I can't work out how guys are breaking them...?
