Considering changing from trad to wfp
« on: September 03, 2013, 09:00:24 pm »
guys a couple of questions on the same for a novice @ wfp

What size tank would be needed for a full days work WFP? 1 man operation.....

Would a Vw caddy 2008 model have enough room to fit tank, poles and accessories

Best type of system to go for? make , models etc

If it takes 40mins to do a house how much time would wfp be likely to take?

How much would system cost approx?

Any other info on the same you might consider relevant

thanks in advance

Tank... between 400 and 600 litres would do for a one man operation.
Need to workout the payload on your van 1 litre of water = 1 kg of weight.
System cost.... anything from a few hundred quid to thousands.
If you take 40 mins to trad a house then you will take the same to wfp it on most domestic homes.
It might be a little quicker if you have a load of properties next to each other.
But even if you could knock off 5 mins of the time you will be no richer because of the extra expense.
Make the change because you want to be safer.

In my experience a 40 min house done wfp, now takes approximately 25 mins
Not exact science but that is how it's worked out for me.
I am earning a lot more per hour now than off ladders.

Why don't you try a back pack to start with, see how you get on??

If you're no quicker WFP then you've got issues!
What about Georgian 12 pane windows on sliding sashes?!
Takes 40 minutes to do one bloody window (properly)

i have a hole cut out in the passengers side bulk head for a  one a clx18 and the other a slx35 and all the usually bits and bobs

all done diy, approx £500 to buy fit(youself) etc and i sometimes spend less than 10 mins on a three bed semi, regular clean

Maybe the issue is that your a slow traditional cleaner most 3 bed semis take about 15 to 20 mins
wfp.
Plenty of traditional guys can clean them in this time yes there will be some windows where wfp will be quicker
but for most domestic properties there wont be a difference worth talking about.

Really & truely not to get into (yet another) trad vs WFP but do you mind me asking how old you are John.
I'm in my 30's and there is absolutely no way a 3 bed semi (£10) would take me 20 minutes to clean.
Perhaps with a long drive, fair bit of chat to the custy, cup of tea and plod home but not actual cleaning...

Don't worry about that others are using bud.
Use what's best for you.
At a guess, I'd say you'd need:

ROman pure kit c.£400
Holding tank £50
Resin £150

Van tank
Pump
Reel/hose
Battery
Boiler
Pole
£less than £1k

And yeah, course it'll fit in your van bud.
You just buy gear to suit.

Without moving the van, that's certainly do-able

Certainly do-able and laughable but then if it wasn't for these splash and dash guys where
would new starts get the work from in saturated areas.
80% of my work came from guys like this so I wont be complaining.

i don't see how you can do a 3 bed semi in 5-7 mins with cleaning all the glass frames and sills also? 15 mins is more like it on a 3 bed semi with no bays with unpacking and packing up

Dave,
It can be done I know because I have seen it.
Not saying the windows where clean but I have seen them cleaned in that sort of time.
Works o.k. until a bit of competition comes along.
