Nathaniel, how good are your websites compared to these £1200 to 1500 ones?

I'd quite happily charge you £1200 - £1500 too, if it makes you feel better?!  :P

Simple answer is that you get what you pay for - I'd expect the more expensive sites to have a LOT more pages than most of the sites I build,.. and since Google loves content, more pages is often a very effective way to get a better ranking,.....

Apart from that, I'd hope that my sites are pretty much the same standard,.. at least in all the important areas.

There's a few examples on my portfolio page here: http://www.avondhu-internet.com/portfolio.html

Not at all, put a ton of key words in,but unless I search for the website name it does not come up in searches. Search window cleaner in st neots or see if you can find it. I bet after sifting through many pages you will get bored as I did. Custies are not going to trawl through hundreds of pages for a shiner,1st page or so and then done.

Jarvy - you've not used any keywords hardly (service or location related),.. its no wonder its not binging in work.

Mention EVERY area/town/village you work in on at least 2 pages, then mention the more important locations again in page titles & image tags. Do the same for your services,.. make sure google knows exactly what you're about!

You need to separate each keyword with a comma.  ;)

But - - Google doesn't pay any attention to meta keywords or description tags anymore, so you NEED to have all those keywords in your on-page text too.

You should still keep the meta tags tho, cause yahoo etc still look at them.  ;)

1st page or so and then done.

Top 3 on page one is what you want to aim for.

If you make changes to a site it can take google weeks to notice the difference.

You can speed this up AND further increase your google ranking by using social media to promote your business.  :D
