Having done my second pole now I can genuinely say that these are the best clamps I've ever used. Properly set up, they work just fine. Glue is fantastic as well. Only thing I did was add a drop of loctite (that came with the original Mk1 SL-X!) to the tip of the bolt. Just as a precaution, as the blue loctite does seem to come off a bit if you've dismantled the clamp.
