Hi all, I've got a driveway cleaning job next week which will be my first that is slight downhill towards the house. There is a long drain (runs the length of the garage) for the water so no issues of flooding the house etc but I'm just wondering what is the best way to stop all the muck running into the drain.

one way is to put some old sheets made into a sausage shape across the drive this will collect the muck and let the water through. then shovel up the muck and dispose of it .you can use the same method to direct the water flow where you want it for instance to a wet vac.

Andy, you are based fairly close to ourselves, we would use recovery on the FSC Or block drain / soakaway  and vacuum / pump continuously .. saves any problems especially if its a soakaway. Bag debris and remove from site

We did one like that this last week, and we took up the grates, and kept emptying em till finished, and gave a good clean out at the end.      Worst part about pressure washing is cleaning up the muck !

Hey guys, thanks for all the input. I did the job and the guy was very happy.

I just removed the gratings and kept clearing them out every so often to keep on top of it then gave the whole gutter a clean out after. Job done!

Could you recommend a vacuum/pump which you would suggest here.  I have only hand a handful of downhill drives into a drain channel which is not connected to a drain and was constantly stopping the machine whilst cupping out the water/waste!

Does the pump suck up just the dirty water and leave the sand stuff/sludge?
