Why is it that some people have not got the BOll+=X to be honest and say who they are and what there about.

3 times this week I have had calls from people claiming to want their carpets or windows cleaned and straight away I've known their not genuine ,it pes me off that some carnt even be honest with them selves

WELL SHAME ON THEM
And you know who you are

Do you mean carpet cleaners? Wanting to know your prices?

I've had a couple over the last couple of weeks, I can suss them out pretty quickly as they tend to try and hide that they are carpet cleaners by making there questions a little bit dumb, like they know about carpet cleaning so try and phrase their questions to ask something technical without it sounding as though they know what they are on about ( if that makes sense)

What makes me laugh is they also can't believe how high the prices are LOL.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Dave,
There's only two genuine carpet cleaners around here - you and us. So who is calling you?

I'm interested because we haven't been getting any calls.

I love it when your normal customers ask what you use to clean the carpet you could say anything because when you tell them they go quiet compleatley baffled .

Take it as a compliment, they obviously think you're successful and want a piece of the pie. If they were smart they'd concentrate on marketing their services instead of trying to steal others.
We had a funny one last week, turned up at an appointment and the lady thought I'd come to get paid, as she'd already had the work done. Turns out another local guy had phoned her and said I'd passed the work on to him and he could come the next day.
No idea how he knew as she had only phoned me.
Weird

Similar thing happened to me last week!

Turned up to do a job, lady answered door and said it had already been done!!!!!!

Turns out that she booked me then apparently by mistake called another local carpet cleaners number thinking it was my number to ask me a question, he played along pretending to be me. He then called her the day of the job to say he had a cancellation and could he come to her in the morning (job was booked for 2pm) so he could beat me to it!

Lady could not stop apologising and was obviously embarrassed.

Its happened to me before (customer ringing me by mistake) and I am always honest and tell them that they have not booked with me.

Just thought it was quite sad that he felt the need to poach a sixty quid job but if he is that desperate then he is welcome to it.

Why are you answering your calls? I would say by what your saying your busy and its a pain when this happens. if your marketing works you should just be taking orders or making an appointment and you can pay someone to do that. i tell my other half not to get into answering question to much as it takes up her time. remember that marketing is not selling. try

http://www.ukfactotum.com/ i used them in past and are great

refer them to a consumers guide, website, or recorded message that should cover all questions. i learnt a long time ago when I was a manager that you can only do one thing at a time and we all have 24 hrs in a day. by using tools you can duplicate yourself.
