Cleaning rough concrete drive ?
« on: August 14, 2013, 10:15:36 pm »
I have been asked to clean a rough concrete drive, but I don't think it will look any better pressure washed, but the customer wants it doing !      I am a bit worried they will be disappointed with the finish, as it an ugly rough finish to start with.    Does anyone else do jobs like these ?

Cleaned loads that i think they will be dissapointed with but there allways made up and if they pay who cares what in think!

It just shows that your expectations are higher than the customer.

As I am sure Simon will agree. You need to clean them from more than one angle because all the crap gets stuck in the roughness, allow for this.

One we did earlier on in the year.

The above had been driven on for about four days when the photo was taken.

What am I 'aving a turkish' about?

This stuff is a nightmare to clean. You cannot clean it from one angle, you can't clean it with a flat surface cleaner.

You can with a Klindex Rocky Mono Rotary fitted with a soft to medium brush or a 180 Grit SIC Brush ;D ;D ;D

I can't agree, the Klindex will probably work in the same way as you could clean it with a FSC - but what happens to the slurry?

Unless you are extracting straight from the surface, the slurry will settle back on itself and you will have to go over it again.

The only way to clean this is from multiple angles and a flat & or turbo nozzle.

I would like to be proven wrong and if there is another way of doing it I would be happy to try it - we clean a load of rough concrete.

It definately works because the brush gets into it at all angles at the same time and that includes the pits & fissures.  There are two approaches.  In all cases we absolutely soak the stone prior to any cleaning, then either spray the high alkaline down or apply it direct from the tank onto the surface.  Then you have a choice of someone following behind with a Wet Vac to take up the majority of the slurry prior to rinsing and scrubbing again or you can use an FSC with a Vacuum take off whichever you prefer.  It is in my opinion the best way to clean any rough cast or4 riven surface.  Slightly more time consuming but the results are good and they simply pay more don't they!  How about the Farrow system???

We'll have a race.

I'll do it my way and then i'll turn around and watch you coming up behind me ;D

The Farrow system needs picking up from the service people. It's only took them four weeks to find a filter!!!

Did the job today, and only took hour, and a half, it was easy with the turbo nozzle.

Picked up two window cleaning customers as well, who were neighbours . . . . I love this job  ;D
