Lone terraces . . . . hard work !
« on: August 10, 2013, 10:35:04 pm »
Getting fed up doing the one terrace house in a long block, and having to set up twice, and having to drive round the back !   Think I am going to have to review my minimum charge  ;D

Tell your one custy that for every neighbour she gets in your round you'll give her a free clean.
Bet you'll be doing the whole terrace in no time

If another window cleaner has the other houses id dump the job mate.in fact I don't take on terraced houses unless I could clean  lots of them in one visit.
price higher/work harder!

I price a job where you have to put all the stuff back in the van and then drive around to do the back as if it was two separate jobs but with one price.

Most custards of such houses decline but for the odd one or two that agree, nice little earner especially if you end up doing neighbouring houses.

What about using a backpack for the back surely that's got to be quicker?

Thats why i love doing terrace houses and take advantage of no rear access and get loads of them(nearly a full round) coz no one else likes doing them.

Iv not long started and only target terrace houses after reading some of your posts,
If you price them right i think you can do quite well, when iv hit all the areas i want and stop picking them up il then move on to semis ect.
And if you price correctly no need to review prices, with the exception on inflation

Yes mate you wont go wrong with that plan, exactly what i do terrace then semi's then anything else that earns money if needed to fill up.
If you soley go out to target the terraced with no rear access you will be surprised how many you will pick up where other window cleaners just cant be bothered or think whats the point in front only etc but customer realy appreatiats it especialy on busy roads. Well priced Terrace fronts=1 wining easy early finish round with maximum profit for minimal work.

£7.50 is still good for a small terrace front. Most down my way still only charge £5 for fronts on terrace not seeing the bigger picture.

leave terraces to trad cleaners, too time consuming for little money, not worth the hassle

if trad cleaners are doing more terrace houses then it leaves them less time to do larger semis and detached properties

But trad cleaners clean semi's and detached houses as well. An average semi where i live is £12-15 taking 15 mins each. a medium terrace front £10min charge taking less than 5 mins.
I cant do 30 semis/detached houses in a day but i can easily do 30 compact fronts in less that 5 hours.
My theory is that terrace fronts are a win win situation, proof is in the puddin.

Less than 12 minutes a house including getting from one to the next, getting ladders off, putting them back, collecting money, no waiting at traffic lights, no traffic congestion, no customer chat etc not mention actually cleaning the windows and just days of just terraced houses all conveniently next to each other.

I have some long runs of terraced, biggest is 21 houses one after the other at £7 a house.

Stroll along doing all tops, then walk back doing bottoms, easy money  ;)

Nice run of houses. my biggest run is 12 from 1 spot but not bad considering only built this round up over the last 2 years.
