Its a good and very effective way of removing colour from stains by reducing... mix it up really hot and apply to the area... i blot using a towel and then extract.
Great on curry and iron bru

never extracted before !!!

why extract  you need to let the solution work, this is done by allowing to dry, is it not ?

i usualy speed up the process with hair drier , any residule is simple vacummed away .

perhaps i been doinbg it wrong all these years, but had good results 9o% of the time .

Cause you'll bleach out the carpet ya doughnut!  ;D

Be wary of sod met. Its a great product but easily to lighten the carpet if you mix it too strong or leave it on too long.

There are various products with this in, Craftex and Chemspecs coffee stain removers are both based on this in liquid form. Powdered versions are Shift and Spray n Go. The beauty of the powdered ones are that you can alter the strength to suit. I used to remove stains for the insurance industry and used to get a 75% success rate which is about the norm. Don't expect to get out every stain, especially if the customers messed about with it.
Spray n Go is designed to be sprayed and left, however this is an American product where the vast majority of carpets are manmade. It is a bleach and can lighten wool carpets so be carefull. I used to mix it up hot, spray it on with handtool at the ready and them whip it out once it had achieved the desired result. If there was a slight discolouration remaining I would mist with a weak solution and leave it.

It is great, but God does it stink  :o

The smell lingers in the waste tank too, so be sure to flush through with a deodoriser after use!

What a load of balls ,
the idea is to lighten the stain, the procees takes time  .......... and if you know what you are doing  ;D its not a problem and in the worst case scenario the area is slightly lighter than before , far better that a patch of red wine , tea etc  and i always point this out to the custy any way.

Geoff, I wouldn't recommend someone that's not used sod met before to apply the product on to any carpet (no mention of strength) and leave it on.

No it does not contain sodium metabisulphate, it contains sodium bisulfite which is in the same family but a different chemical compound.

Depenent on the situation can be extracted or not.

In some situations you will get far better results in reducing a stain by applying it to a dry carpet and leaving it to dryout/ reduce. I have reduced many a red stain ou of a white/ cream carpet that way  ;)
