Ball cock in tank
« on: August 09, 2013, 07:58:09 am »
I have a problem with my tank over flowing when I forget to turn the water for my RO in the shed off, what happens is my 4040 RO is in my shed and the hose from my resin vessel goes straight into my van tank through a port underneath the back doors,my waste simply goes down the drain just outside my shed door, however if I fit a ball cock to my tank it will close and stop any more water from entering the tank but does the waste still continue as it is not an electrical solenoid I am using and if the waste does continue when the pure water can no longer enter my van tank will it damage my 4040 membrane?

Why don't you just kink the pure hose to stop it and see what happens?

why don't you just put an overflow on your tank and run that to waste and set an alarm on your phone to remind you it should  be nearly full. Cost about a fiver to do. Works on my IBC a treat..

I have a ball cock in my tank and when it is full, it shuts off the water before it hits my purification system so that does not stay pressurised. The water stops going in to it and therefore it stops the waste too. I never worry about my tank overflowing because everything just shuts off.

Steve Is that operating a solenoid valve on the water in line?

Not sure exactly how it works, but know it is in water line, not solenoid.

Vin from Perfect Windows has a similar thing to Solar Steve. He once put a photo of it up on another forum. He has it plumbed into his IBC tank - it won't work in the tank on a van mount with an external r/o system.

The male and female hose barbs are to be purchased separately as the ball cock is not available ex stock as per the photo. He got the bits to modify this from a hydraulic specialist.
