What equipment do you have available?

I'd prespray with a microsplitter, scrub that in then use what ever compound you can get your hands on.

I think it the preperation  before the compound that does the hard work

Or hwe it. Done.

need to be carfull with this if carpet is syntethic, mostly polypropylen, water can run straight to the backing

H/w/e  shouldnt be a problem, be cautious yes !! but not really a problem, and certaily  encap or l/m wont be a problem.

If what i am reading is correct , is this your first polyprop ?  and  been extra cautious :-\

I doubt it, lots of poly out there all been cleaned with h/w/e .

Hi Guys

When I am unsure on a Belgian Wilton, I will very lightly pre spray and then HWE spraying the water above the carpet and then extracting. In this way it is not forced into the backing.

As has been said if you bonnet or brush clean there will be no problem.

Cheers

Doug

Not sure but a few guys missing the point with the original post,

Nothing to do with the carpet being a polypropylene. It's the fact it's a Wilton and a polypropylene. Woven through backing. When a carpet shrinks its the backing that shrinks.

Ry check for the fitting, door bars, gripper joins etc. depending on your machine power you could hwe, but as first time, I'd bonnet buff. Good vac, if use a micro splitter sprayed on the pad thoroughly and off you go, stopping and turning changing pads regularly. Small trigger spray for stains or traffic lanes. May need qualifying with client depending on soiling.

I normally tackle as suggested, vac the living daylights out of it, pure clean maybe a little stronger and maybe with a little oxybrite, scrub the living daylights out of it normally with the oreck, Then mist over extract. Sometimes extract properly in traffic lanes if needed.

Had one 2 weeks ago though that i was cautious with as it was already away from the wall in a couple of places. I explained the situation and went ahead with encap, I couldnt believe it it looked fantastic. I had to pad the job out as it was so quick aswell.

There are many on the market and they all do a good job. A lot of granule cleaners have now gone over to encapping once they have seen how easy it is and no more of the chore of vacuuming for ever to get the granules back out the carpet.
If using low moisture methods you do need to spend time vacuuming the carpet before hand, and remember uprights only work efficiently on the backward stroke.
