I have a customer who has had walls rough casted and it was sprayed with some some sort of clear sealant, needing something that will remove the excess from glass and pvc frames, scraper is not touching it

a solvent may work..

or you could try paint & varnish stripper gel, but not on the frames, make sure it says it is ok for use on glass on the tin.. I've had good success with this stuff..

I've used Nitromors paint stripper to remove residue from glass in a previous occupation and it worked fine.
Just have to make sure that all of the paint stripper is removed from the glass afterwards.

If its silicone based you can get silicone eater but what ever you need will be pretty nasty stuff so be careful

Darran, not sure if it is silicone, well not in the sense of silicone to fill gaps, this was sprayed on?

Urethane most likely so try paint stripper. I'd do a test 1st

There is always a ying to the yang.

yes my thoughts also, I have the customer trying to contact the builder, they have been blanking him, usual cowboy job not sheeting up windows, getting their money and bolting not answering calls

They may be ignoring your custy if they were a PITA or if they think they're gonna try and get them to come back.
Why don't you ring them, that way it looks like the customer has already resigned themselves to sorting it themselves. You can just say 'sorry to bother you but I'm cleaning at..... A tiny bit of product has got on the glass, would you mind telling me what you used PLEASE, IT'D REALLY HELP ME OUT. Ask it as a favour. Humans (in general) like to help/do favours/feel like they've got you in their pocket, the builder IME will usually help if he feels on a level with you.

yes I get your drift on a few levels, and I may do that, the customer in this case would be PIA to the builder and rightly so, they don't want me to sort the the problem they want the builder to sort it, but failing that they want to bill the builder for work I have carried out, that is up to them and I will not get involved except providing an invoice if need be, but I see where you are coming from thanks

use frame cleaner the stuff window fitters use .bloody good stuff.put some on some kitchen roll and rub.

Upvc solvent........ I just did a builders clean and used it to remove silicone, cement, glue etc etc. it's cheap enough and gets the job done well.

Trick is wet the job up and apply the solvent and leave for 5 or 10 mins and wot ever you trying to remove will just wipe off no probs.
