Dont go for cheap tyres, its false economy. Vans especially those with a lot of weight in them such as a TM really require a decent tyre.  Personally id go for either Michelin or Continentals.

Spend over £100 a time , rears on a front wheel drive van last 50-60k  fronts 30-40k

I find anything else false economy.  Put employees on partworns and you are asking for trouble when they investigate accidents.

think you need to get better insurance having had 10 vans wrote of in the last 7 years ive yet to come across this trouble with part worn tyres

Susan, are you on a wind up on here or something?? Written off 10 vans in 7 years!?!? why would you even admit to  that like its a cool thing? IF its true that is....

Anyway back to talking sense. So if you buy a second hand van, are you not also buying 4 part worn tyres? You have no idea what type of life the tyres have had or if they are also bought from the scrappies.

I don't understand what the problem with a second hand tyre is. As long as they are not worn, have tread, the sides are not knackered, then I don't see the problem your not buying them blind.

If they where that bad and I did crash and it was the tyres that caused it then surely the garage would be liable.

I just try and give a real view most carpet cleaners on here  have had very little to do with vans , ive forgot more about vans then most will even know , running my husbands transport company and  having  29 vans out everyday doing work for dhl , tnt , city link

my  vans have use more fuel ticking over then yours as  done driving so until you have walked in my shoes best you keep it shut as I was paying 5k a month to insure the fleet which will be more then you take a mounth 8-)

as for the life of a tyre you don't know what lifes a new one as had either they sit for years in big stock plies and get shipped all over in wet and damp containers also they repair them in the factory when comeing down the line befoure going on to brand new cars and vans

I couldn't belive the storys I have been told buy a guy I know he  was end off line chief at Nissan just makes me smile when I see people so happy pick there cars up as I know some nobber as been driving it round the track on the limiter when loading it

Try BM Motoring in Staple Hill.

Good honest friendly service.

Deal with budget, mid range and expensive tyres and will be happy to give advice.

Always buy my tyres for the van and cars from here. Never had a problem and last well.

Tyre pressure can also have an effect on the life span of a tyre.

My sprinter with TM on board has done 35k on origonal set and are about 60% worn, my Hilux 4wd has done 41k from new, It get a bit of rough track work, they have a couple of miles left in them, my 207 van does 800 miles a week and tyres last 30k, a lot is motorway miles.
Just shows all vehicles are different, it also depends on the driver as to how smooth they operate them.
