What was your last dump and why ?
« on: August 08, 2013, 09:08:11 am »
not toilet dumping  :-X customer dumping  :)

mine was this week cos they got a rescue dog that they couldnt be bothered waking by the state of the garden and patio - knocked on door and told em they would have to clear it up and disenfect area as  was unfair to walk dog extrement onto my next job. They were not happy at this so we parted company.

Just dumped a nice £35 country house today.......took me 2 months to get paid for the second clean.

Won't be cleaning there again even though she was "absolutely gorgeous" as Dazmond would say! :)

the last time i dumped a customer was 3 years ago as the bloke was an alchaholic Who never paid, nail on the head for me was when i knocked on his door after owing 3 cleans when he answered with pi$$ all soaked through his jeans where he wet himself!
Apart from that i have never dumped a customer, i have many who owe 4/5/6 cleans but i always get it in the end without pulling my hair out with stress because of it.

You dumped because it took 2 months to get your money?
Your mad that customer if done 4 weekly is a massive £420 a year to you. If a trampy councal house for £5 who cares to dump.
Im not knocking you but i wouldnt have dumped a customer worth a lot of money to myself over the year for being a month or 2 late paying.
Id only dump if they show no signs of paying at all with a long list of silly excuses which i only got years ago when did councal estates.

I've got better things to do than continually chase (ex) customers for money when the agreed terms were 7 days payment by bacs.

i dumped a £25 job the other month.he said he wouldnt pay by BACS as he would forget,i said i could send him a text reminder but he was cagey about giving me his phone number,so i said i would leave a SAE but he said he got no cheque book and would forget anyway.he also accused me of not cleaning some windows when i knew i had.he was a cocky little s***.
anyway went back 4 times for payment.every time he was either out or said he had no money can you come back next week.in the end i wrote off the £25.

complete messer and waste of my time.the last people who lived in the house paid up no problem every clean.id cleaned their windows for 5 years. >:( >:(

I can spot bad payers a mile away most of them are council estate or young custys renting, its no more than 2 cleans without payment, dont mind taking a more relaxed approach to others because i know i will always get it eventully.

I'm dumping a few at the moment. Building up my round and getting quite busy, so I'm gently starting to cull a few:
Saturdays only and then you text them and they can only do between 3 and 4pm and not prepared to leave the gate unlocked...dumped!
Anyone who says 'not today thank you'...twice in a row (I clean 8 weekly)...dumped!
Anyone who doesn't leave their gate open...twice in a row...dumped!
It sounds a bit harsh but I'm getting some very good customers at the moment, so I'm not prepared to put up with time wasters anymore.
I'll continue as I mean to go on  ;)

its not harsh..its business, if you have 20 customers lined up for a days work and 5 say "not this time" and are quite regular about it then you only have 15 REAL CLIENTS so your income is down

BUT i will say it again............Standing orders reduces this to almost nil

you got that wrong , the worst bad payers are the ones in biggish new build private houses who think they are smug when it comes to not paying.
iv hundreds, nay over a thou of council houses on my books now ,rarely get bad payers there

I find young first time buyers the worst.
Spoilt with no shame and want everything done for nothing.

i dumped an underpriced house today.  put the price up from £22 to £48...  not sure if this strictly counts as dumping, as i did not dump her so much as put the price up and said "take it or leave it" (very professionally of course).

she left it so she was dumped  ;D

I dimped one today,
Text last night to leave side gate unlocked, got there today, gate still locked.
Last clean but one same thing. Slow payers & back garden reeks of dog pi55.
It was £13 every 6 weeks.

To the few that mentioned about gates not being unlocked...

I charge the same price whether they remember or not.
Clean what I can.
Once I brought this in-low & behold-everyone remembered!
To soften the blow I said I'm bringing this in instead of a price increase which was 'long overdue' 'you're a valued customer and in times of austerity yada yada...'

Really though-works a treat.
If people are used to paying (for instance) £20 full clean, £5 F/O then they find out they may be paying £20 for what only used to cost them a fiver they remember!
