Been on the phone to southern water.they said they are applying for drought order and will know in 3 weeks wether this will affect our means to make a living.seriously as a wfpler i am worried i wont be able to pay my way.i cant go back to 'blading' as i had a fall a year ago that frightened the hell out of me.thats why i forked out 2000 on my setup.couldnt get up the ladder again on some houses.got loads of work now that i couldnt(wouldnt) do traditionally.do you think its worth being worried??

I remember we were worried about the Russians dropping the A bomb and the guys on street corners with the religious message " the end of the world etc" since then in a wet country, your wondering about tomorrow- it never comes.

Ive phoned our water supplier - severn trent water, i spoke to 3 people there and all 3 said there is no drought order coming in to place in the near future.

They couldnt say if one was in place wether it would affect our business or not

They could tell you one thing and do another

Ive got about 200 houses ive got to change over to wfp soon, so im a bit worried myself if an order would be placed in my region.

Calm down! Calm down!

If they keep the water on then you have to use plan A - If they turn it off from time to time - plan B. If it's standpipes - plan C!

Plan A - as the hysteria builds among the customers, then in proportion to it show willing and do more trad. than before. Just wfp the tops (not many patio doors up there!) and blade the bottoms - so now on a three bed semi your wfp'ing four or five windows instead of ten windows/doors. If no-one's about to moan then do the downstairs wfp as water permits.

This means that if you're careful you'll use 8 to 10 litres instead of 16 - 20 plus.

Plan B - if they turn the water off at times then stick with plan A but apply it more stringently.

Save your waste water from your R/O for when you need to do trad.

Plan C - Just do trad downstairs and tell 'em you'll do upstairs when the drought's finished. (Charge them three-quarters of the price cuz there's more glass downstairs. )  Go to the standpipe with a couple of 5 gallon drums. One will last all week on trad.

I think the real problem is looking folk in the eye and carrying on while they moan about not watering their lawns and cleaning their cars!

I think my water bill is £33 per month, although since going WFP, I'm sure I get my monies worth.

When I lived in Northern Ireland, I'm sure we didn't pay water charges.

£350 a year and Over £400 for next year  southwesy water has the highest charges in the country.

We pay for all the holiday makers water useage and the big beach clean up

I've just checked mine.  I pay £29.60 per month; so £355.20 per year.  Not too much difference from you David.

Nope,

I've just had a look at my water bill:

£29.60 over twelve months.

£355.19 in total, after an £18 discount because I pay by DD.

Still I can't complain.

I've about 700 litres of pure water ready for next week (more enough for a weeks worth for me) in the back garden.

With a huge increase for next year
