interesting, only just posted in another thread about problem with flow on my vyair pump,
http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=174566.0
my vyair pump was only 2 years old but showing signs of having slowed down,
yes this pump would work but for how long ?
my experience shows you are better off buying a quality pump - shurflo or flojet etc.
Simon
i know how long that is the question but if they last 2 years like the v air for 20 delivered thats £10 a year so could afford a spare one and still have change from what you would on a named product just a thought as like i said i know others use the £30 ones from ebay but found these cheaper
What would worry me is that we work in a damp environment. That motor is rather open. I also rather suspect that the current draw of 3 amps is not accurate. I suspect that its the pump running at full flow without restriction of lengths of hose and jets.
I also disagree with the reasoning that if it lasts 2 years then you are quids in. You have only taken the price of the pump into consideration. When your system developes in intermittant fault, the first suspect is battery, then connections, then controller and finally pump. Even the Hozelok fittings to the hose reel are suspect. You can mess around for hours trying to identify a fault. Downtime is money lost and a cost to your business.
My one Shurflo pump on my van is 7 years old and the other is 5 years old, the Shurflo on my son's van is 6 years old. The Shurflo on my son in laws van is 2 years old. I have a Varistream controller and spare Shurflo pump in my office as a back incase of failure - they are 2 years old and not used yet.
Would I buy that pump? No, for me that is false economy.
The Vyair pumps aren't that much cheaper than the Shurflo, and a number have started to report that they aren't as robust as the Shurflo and Flojets are. Again, I would say purchasing them is false economy.
