interesting, only just posted in another thread about problem with flow on my vyair pump,
http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=174566.0
my vyair pump was only 2 years old but showing signs of having slowed down,
yes this pump would work but for how long ?
my experience shows you are better off buying a quality pump - shurflo or flojet etc.
Simon
i know how long that is the question but if they last 2 years like the v air for 20 delivered thats £10 a year so could afford a spare one and still have change from what you would on a named product just a thought as like i said i know others use the £30 ones from ebay but found these cheaper

get what your saying, admit I am tempted too
how your van set up ?

very simples, tank, 1 meter 1/2" hose hose to pump and controller, then to 1 meter 1/2" hose to reel.
same as mine then so how do i split so i ca try pump?

like this

barbed y you mean and put it on tank to pump side?
how far down from the original pump would you put it or dont you think it would matter?
yes a barbed y
Where does the hose exit your tank from ? I have a ball lever outlet in bottom corner of the tank (as oppose to hose dropped in through the filler cap which can cause problems with air locks)
that being the case I would put it just after the tank outlet, giving you as much scope as possible to position the second pump where you like (I find they are best as low down as the tank outlet as possible via the shortest length of hose you can)

Just ordered one of these to keep in the van as a spare, for £12 if it works could be a great item to have in case pump packs up during a day working.

I used the pro pumps for the latest van they last no more than 3 months, been sent several replacements and they all seize up changed over to shurflo pumps now

These really cheap pumps are not worth buying even as an emergency backup

Turned up fine, tried it and it works fine. Well worth the money and ideal to keep in my van as a spare. The inlet/outlet on the pump is not very long, that is the only downside I found on the pump. Just big enough for a jubilee clip. Apart from that it's a little gem  ;)

That pump is the same as ones used in most back packs and as a spare pump for emergencies it'll work fine. I've had one in my van for a few years and have used it on the odd occasion and once for 3 days.

It's not much cop with 100m hose (I use 8mm microbore) and pole extended but with 50m it did the job but with a slightly lower flow rate.

The problem with the motor being exposed. It's made like that to keep it cool. I stuck mine in a waterproof box (from Maplins - £8), cut a hole in the bottom of the box and stuck a small pc fan (Maplins - £3) on it and wired it so as when the pump turns on, so does the fan. I also drilled a couple of small holes also in the bottom to allow for air flow.

Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

Its been in my backpack over a week now. Not saying it will last 5 years but it will get you out of a tight spot if your pump goes down. Thats why i brought it,as a spare not a long term replacement.

That's not what the op was asking for tho was it ?
The initial question was for van mounted use as alternative to shurflo or flojet
Which having used them I can assure you it's not
After the quantity that have failed I would not rely on them as an outright spare either
I'm happier paying for a known quality item but as the saying goes you pay's yer money and takes your choice

Hope my experiences of this product is of some help

Simon,

I've just used a replacement kit sent through from Vyair, lost all pressure and flow u/s. E-mailed the guys at Vyair and was sent the kit next day!, my pump was under 12 months, so kit free! Wouldn't imagine it's that expensive to buy.

Has for flowjet, I have one that's done exactly the same and is about 12-14 months old. I'll be contacting Gardiners later as it has a 2 yr warranty.

Rob.
