Stick to your pricing policy
« on: August 05, 2013, 02:47:06 pm »
Priced a job up today for £15. O its a bit dearer than the last window cleaner he only charged £12 but just stopped coming said the little old deaf custie.  I told him that was my price and he accepted it after a bit of uhming and arhing, so cleaning a window over the conservatory custie comes out saying blimey that window hasn't been cleaned for years the old window cleaner could not get over the conny roof, I smiled to myself and thought how glad I was I stuck to my price.

So uncle Uckys tips to you all is stick to your prices :)

I have and never will drop a price down for anything.. the quoted price is the price you pay or you dont have it simple and straight forward as that.

Its amazing how many people umm and ahhhh over a couple of quid even though there getting the frames kept clean and cleaning say 2-3 more windows that the last window cleaner could not reach!! does my head in.
Dave.

Slightly OT but relevant:- I had a "it was a misunderstanding" from an ex-custy this afto.

Here's the story. (Must you? Yes. Alright then carry on, sigh!) ;D

Back in February, hose out, brush to window and a monthly £15 'er comes out and he says leave it this time old son we'll have you next time. Shortening it down it ends with "I don't work on that basis/forget it then/I will but it will be permanent/OK be like that!"

Today Mrs. comes out giving it "the misunderstanding whine" asking Dan the Man if she can go back on the books and her husband "got it wrong" (Yeah right) but two-monthly.

So I tool on over and I "tweak her nose" with a bit of a reminder about "this will have to be regular with no doorstep cancellations/Yes OK/and the price will be £20 instead of £15 if you want two-monthly."

She says she will ask hubby and goes in to ask/comes back with we'll stick with monthly to which I say yebbut the first clean is gonna be £20 because they haven't been done for over six months.

Oh, alright she says.

I still think I was too soft but it's another in a compact little close of modern detached houses so I'm fairly happy with it.

(Sing) There may be trouble ahead ...

I always look forward to your posts sir!  ;D

I also enjoy his posts - its amasing that he found such a loyal and reliable employee with Dan the Man, where so many on here don't seem to be that fortunate choosing/finding staff.

Please Malc, tell us your employment secret.

I know it's not a guarantee for success but he's my son-in-law!
